Hoza Scott was ranked as the top defender in Texas when the La Porte linebacker committed to Texas A&M last December.
However, it has been clear for quite some time that the 6-foot-2, 225-pound prospect was not likely to make it to College Station due to academics.
The news came a little sooner than expected on Monday, though, as Scott says he is on his way to enroll at Kilgore J.C. and plans to start classes on Tuesday.
"Yes sir, I'm on my way [to Kilgore] right now," Scott said on Monday afternoon. "I'm starting class tomorrow. I'm ready to start over."
Scott must graduate from Kilgore with his associate's degree before being able to attend a four-year school.
