1-2 Punch Excelling on the Ground

Ben Malena

Malena leads the Aggies with 7.2 yards per carry on the season.

The Aggies are second in the SEC in rushing and have the leagues 3rd best rusher, but that still doesn't mean Aggie fans are completely happy with the A&M ground game.

    • I'd still love to see CMike have a 20-25 carry game, just so he can show what he's capable of when he gets in his groove. Doubt that's going to happen though.

    • Channeling your inner Peter King?

      Aggie quasi-ground game effective, MOSTLY

Johnny Manziel poised for success running the ball this week, MAYBE. But on a neutral field in Wichita?

    • Rarely do I post anything, but I certainly enjoy the comments. However on the topic of our rushing attack, I want to add my two cents. Why in the world don't we line up in short yardage situations in some sort of power formation and run the ball behind our stellar offensive line with our stellar backs (CMike)? So what if the defense knows we're running the ball. We should be able to get 1-2 yards each time. It would certainly be better than what we have seen lately in the red zone or in short yardage situations. Don't get me wrong, I am excited about this year's turn of events and look forward to our future successes. But, short yardage situations concern me, especially since we have the players to address it.

    • Not to jinks the kid but the major difference here between the other RBs is that Ben holds on to the rock....

    • Agree on this, don72. Seems like we need to add the demension of a power running game, for specific situations.

I'd like to see us line up in a real monster package. How about Demontre Moore at RB behind Spencer Neely or Jonathan Stewart to pick up 1 yard?
