A&M vs. Tech: Game 2--- Aggies even the series, win 5-4

  • Broken record, but this is ridiculous. Two and three runs isn't going to get you wins in Lubbock.

  • Top 7-

Greg Alcazar hits the ball sharply, but right at the LF. 1 away.

Jace Statum walks on four pitches. Runner on first with one out.

New pitcher coming in for the Raiders.

Wild pitch moves Statum over to second.

Naquin gets his second walk of the day. Runners on 1st and 2nd with one away.

8 straight balls from the Raider pitchers.

Bratsen up at the plate. He is hitting .441 with runners in scoring position this year.

I jinxed him, he grounds to the third baseman who steps on third and throws to first for a double play. The second one the Ags have hit into today.

A&M is getting baserunners and getting them in scoring position, but has done a very poor job of capitalizing on the opportunities.

    2-1 A&M. Time to stretch.

  • Bottom 7-

Raiders get the leadoff man aboard as Paiz gets a basehit.

Bunt by Tomlinson moves Paiz to second.

Andre Wheeler pinch hitting for Hanslik.

Wheeler chops one back to the Wacha, who throws to House for the second out.

Paiz stays at second with 2 outs.

Base hit to right center field scoring Paiz.

    Tie ball game, 2-2

Runner on first with 2 outs for McGruder.

Redman steals 2nd. Wacha threw a pitchout, but Alcazar still could not get Redman. That is the third stolen base of the day against Alcazar.

Wacha is exiting the game. Brandon Parrent in to try and stop the damage... Runner on 2nd with 2 outs.

McGruder swings at the first pitch and flies out to Naquin in right.

    2-2 after 7

  • Top 8-

Jacob House, Juengel and Jackson due up.

House gets aboard on an error on the Raider 1B.

New pitcher coming in for Tech.

Juengel strikes out looking. Juengel did not agree.

Kenny Jackson walks. Runners on first and second for Charlie Curl.

Curl is looking to extend a 4 game hitting streak.

Curl hits a ground ball to the third baseman who throws to 2nd for an out, but Curl beats out the throw at first.

Runners on the corners with 2 outs for Adam Smith.

Adam Smith comes through in the clutch and launches a ball deep over the fence in left on an 0-2 count!

Before that at bat he was hitting .056 with runners in scoring position. Huge HR for Smith.

    5-2 A&M

Alcazar gets his first hit in conference as he laces a ball down the line for a double.

Scott Arthur in to run for Alcazar.

Statum hits a ball well to LF but Wheeler catches it. Ags do some damage though, and go ahead 5-2.

    5-2 A&M

  • Lol...talk about a miracle. But I'll take it! Would like to get Arthur in with Wacha out.

  • Bottom 8-

Leadoff walk to Popescu. We have allowed entirely too many leadoff runners this series.

Parrent is being lifted in favor of Kyle Martin (1-0, 1.20).

Barnes hits the ball hit back to Martin, throws it over the bag at second, but neither Jackson or Curl are there to catch the ball. Popescu moves to third.

Barnes steals second. Runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs.

Hagen hits a deep fly that is caught. Run scores though.

    5-3 A&M

Runner on second with one out.

Whitehead walks on a 3-2 count.

Runners on 1st and 2nd with one out.

    Kyle Martin exits the game.

Joaquin Hinojosa (1-0, 0.47, 7 saves) is the third Aggie pitcher of the inning.

Double steal for Tech. Runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out.

Paiz hits to Curl at second. Out at first, but the run scores.

    5-4 A&M

Runner on 3rd with 2 outs.

Tomlinson grounds out to end the inning.

    5-4 A&M to the 9th.

  • Top 9-

Tyler Naquin leads off the 9th with a ground out.

Krey Bratsen drag bunts, but is thrown out a first by a step.

Jacob House lines one over the 1st baseman for a 2 out single.

    New pitcher for the Raiders.

Pick off throw to first, and House falls down.

5-4 A&M to the bottom of the ninth.

  • Bottom 9-

8, 9, 1 due up for the Raiders

Wheeler grounds out to Kenny Jackson to start the bottom of the 9th.

Redman up next. He is 1-2 with an RBI today. Redman hits a blooper to Curl for out number two.

McGruder is hit by a pitch on an 0-2 count. I believe that is his 3rd HBP this weekend. He has reached 11 of 13 times this weekend.

Runner on 1st with 2 outs.

2-1 count to Popescu. Fly ball to left field caught by Wood.

Hello win column. Aggies win 5-4!

  • It is really hard to win in Lubbock. As I have mentioned previously, A&M has not won a series in Lubbock since 1997.

Stripling needs to be on tomorrow.

With the # of mistakes (mental & physical) this team comes up with, it is really hard to win anywhere including home.
