Back from my honeymoon

  • First off, shutout to Hamm. We got 2 defensive recruits while I was gone just as I had asked for. If I would have realized it would go down like this, I would have asked sooner. Taylor, my next order will be arriving soon.

We went to Sandals and Antigua and here are a few notes about the trip if any of you guys are thinking about doing the sandals thing or going to Antigua.

    The good:
Food - Fresh local produce and lots of it. Bananas, pineapples, coconut, sugar cane, etc. Very good chicken (Caribbean jerk), beef, and pork. Pretty decent desserts as well.

Tours - Went zip lining and sailing/snorkeling. Both were very organized and a lot of fun. Heard good things about several other excursions throughout the week.

Drink - I'm not much of a drinker but this place didn't disappoint. Lots of local rum made from concunut, sugar cane, etc. Daddy, I asked for the Trace but they didn't have any.

Scenery - Best I have seen. Crystal clear water, plenty of greenery, awesome views, nice sand on the beach.

People - Lots of different people from different places. Met some good people from Texas and some from out of state. Several people noticed our Aggie rings and asked or commented about it. All positive about SEC move.

    The bad:
Food - Some of the food was excellent, while others were terrible. The Tex-Mex restaurant was laughable. Hot salsa was picante sauce. Several of the restaurants were outdoors and birds were able to scavage as they pleased.

The staff - Lazy. Our room didn't receive service two of the nights we were there. Waitstaff was terrible.

Being hassled - you get hit up 24/7 to buy something. Pictures, massages, jewelry, etc. Couldn't go to the beach and just chill without being asked by sketchy dudes to go ride horses or something.

Tardiness - Everything was late. We had to wait 45 minutes for our room to be ready when we arrived. Dinner reservations were late. Trips started late because of sandals.

    General notes:

Antigua is pretty sketchy outside of the resorts. I wouldn't venture too far from the resort after dark.

The roads are terrible. The drivers are worse.

Georgio Armani has a $7.5M home in Antigua. $7.5M. Think about that the next time you buy some Armani Code.

People honk to say hello when driving, instead of waving.

Some of the music is really good. Some of it is equal parts Nicki Minaj and crack. Also the songs are generally 8-10 minutes long per song rather than 3-4 as we are accustomed to.

Overall I'd give the trip about a 6. I had a blast and had wonderful company ;) but you don't get what you pay for. Definitely room for improvement by Sandals.

Win we shall, yes we can, yes we will.

  • We went to St Lucia, and it was a lot better than that man. We are already planning another one to the Bahamas.

  • Good summary ebo. Ive had a few friends do Sandals St. Lucia and for the most part they said they really enjoyed it.

Would you recommend Antigua outside of doing it with Sandals? Were there other resorts there?

Do you do it through Sandals or another resort?

  • I've heard St Lucia was good too and I'm seriously wishing we would have done that instead.

I heard good things about a resort in Antigua called Coco Bay. Not sure if it's all inclusive or what.

Antigua itself is amazing. The Sandals there needs improvement but I'd consider going to Antigua if you haven't been before.

It's a crap shoot on picking one. We're planning to go to Sandals Emerald Bay in the Bahammas next.
