Big 12-2 doesnt have enough good football games

  • I have been thinking about this for a while. At most there are 10 games the nation will care about this year. It just doesn't add up.

  • 1. A&M/OU
    2. A&M/tu
    3. A&M/OSU
    4. OU/tu
    5. OU/OSU
    6. A&M/MU
    7. MU/OU
    8. MU/OSU
    9. MU/tu
    10. tu/OSU

    sound about right

that's why this whole SEC West taking A&M/OU/OSU/MU & tu indy is a bad a** gig

tu gets what they want, football independence, let them merge with TCU & the rest of the Big 12 who gets selected into an expanded Big East to put their littles in, EXACTLY like ND, hell it'd be even better for their men's basketball

meanwhile A&M gets what they want, the SEC, & the SEC gets new, big markets &/or big football brands

OSU would be the "tag along" with OU but having OSU as a single tag along isn't bad when you're getting A&M/OU/MU

A&M & tu ultimately get what they each want in the end

  • I am interested to know what GigEm247's connections in the program feel about this. Last night I was thinking about Turgeon and Byrne complaining about attendance at sporting events. IMO going SEC is the best thing we could do to increase interest with the students/former students and casual sporting fans in the region as well as regain some national interest. The Big 12-2 is dead and the product is stagnant. People want something fresh I just cant fathom why we haven't been more proactive. This conference seems to be going the way of the SWC real fast.

  • I don't think anything short of joining the Big East or playing Texas every game would help basketball attendance. Until they get a real marketing person involved with A&M basketball, or the team is in the top five, it is what it is.

I don't think football attendance is going to be a problem next year, but playing in the SEC West certainly wouldn't hurt.

  • It's about TV money. The Big 12-2 is a tough one to pitch.

  • Barry Tramel wrote a good article on the dilemma the other day, with practically the same headline:

Tried to do a puzzle with my granddaughter the other day. The Lion King. A piece was missing. A border piece. Very frustrating.
