Big East - BCS

  • With the addition of Tulane and East Carolina to the Big East, can we please take another look at giving them an automatic BCS bid. Also, with the B1G and SEC expanding beyond 12 teams each, can we look at allowing 3 teams from a conference in if that conference has, say three schools in the BCS top 8. Maxing out the Big 12 (10 teams), and B1G and SEC (14 teams each) at 2 teams per conference makes no sense. The bigger conferences get a much smaller revenue per school (which makes a difference if you actually split the money among everyone in your conference). Conversely, you could limit conferences that do not have a conference championship game to one bid per conference. That would also improve the fairness of revenue distribution, but by keeping good teams out instead of letting the best teams in. In any case, conferences have changed enough to make the BCS system out of date. Hope they change some of this when they start the playoff system.

  • In the new playoff system, the Big East is part of the "Group of Five" along with CUSA, Sun Belt, MAC, Mountain West. This, essentially, makes them a mid-major.

  • I heard some shit on the radio this morning that the Pac-12 is so desperate to get in to Texas they're going after UH.
