It's the only reasonable number.
I read the comments below the article, do the Rice Owls really say, "Peck 'Em"?
I've read 103,500 max and the plan is to get there over 3-4 years. If I find the article I'll post it but its likely it came from this message board.
I don't mean to be a debbie downer but I think 95K is as high as we should go.
In our most amazing year of all time (this past season) we sold out, but not much of the expanded sell out (adding seats on the track, turning people away at the door, etc.). The only games we might have done that for this past season were LSU and Florida. The stadium won't look all that hot when the Sam Houston States roll into town and heaven forbid we have a down year...
I think we need to be the hot chick...a little unattainable, wanted, not accessible to all, etc. Expanding to 112,000 would make us the biggest slut in the world, anybody could get access and even then we wouldn't fill up.
Just my 2 cents.
Not if they make tickets a little cheaper. Some people can't justify paying the current season ticket prices. We have enough alumni in the Houston/DFW/Austin/San Antonio area to make it happen.
I'd love to see cheaper ticket prices but the next time the AD at a big time school lowers ticket prices might be the first time. Ticket prices generally go one direction over time...especially when you have a new $1/2 billion stadium to pay for.

Well, another reason is lack of hotel options.
