Per the father of San Antonio East Central CB Matthew Coleman, the 5-foot-9, 165-pound CB has decided to accept a preferred walk-on offer from Texas A&M. He had an offer from Idaho State and some interest from lower level FBS schools and some FCS schools, but he's taking the preferred walk-on spot with the Aggies.

Whats the difference between a preferred walk-up as opposed to a regular walk-on? Heard this term before, just curious.
Recently I received the question on a comment regarding the difference between being a walk on and a preferred walk on. With both terms being thrown around
Kid is a baller. My buddy coached against this kid and had good things to say about him.
He's better than some sherm era offers. Excited to have the young man on board. Looks like a kid that could earn a scholarship with some hard work.

FWIW his brother signed with Air Force last year. His brother if 6-0, 180. Had Matthew had those measurables he would have been an FBS recruit for sure.
Coach Walker at East Central has had guys like Jay Brooks and Michael Jameson when he was at Killeen Ellison back in the day. He said Coleman reminds him a lot of Jay Brooks.
better prospect than swoopes.
