In very limited snaps he has been poor. Very poor. Ok, but hes a fish and players can get better. But the point is - how damn bad must hatten be?
Dollar store bad. No?

Hatten doesn't have a position on this defense. He was a 3-4 DE all the way. It takes more than just being a fat guy to play the nose.
Are you kidding? I could hear that arrow a mile away.
Hatten's problem is more likely between the ears. He's physically gifted enough that he could help us somewhere if he really wanted to.
while i agree, lets give this one some time.
hatten needs to transfer. soft.
I'm sorry bud, but I must disagree. First off, AWilliams is playing DE right now, not DT. So not sure the Hatten comparison is relevant. I have observed AWilliams play fairly well in his sub time and limited snaps. He played in goal line situations against Bama too.

Zo is unhappy with all the weight he put on during the summer. He was told he needed to add weight so he could contribute this year at DT. He has said he wants to get back down to 250-260 because he lost so much of his speed with the rapid weight gain.
I havent seen anything from Williams to make me think he will ever be elite for us but I dont think he has played nearly as bad as you seem to, considering he's a true freshman. What Price has done in his short time here makes me think he can turn a guy like Alonzo in to a productive player for us over the next few years...dont know about Hatten.
I think the biggest thing with these DL is to figure out where they can be most effective and hone them in there. For Alonzo's sake, if he can't handle the weight, work it off and get the speed back to be a beast DE that could even move in and disrupt the interior with his speed like Nealy has done some this year. I would rather a confident 260-270 DE that has great speed and strength over a 280-290 pound guy that is slow because of the extra weight and not confident on the field.
Hope Polo red shirting is allowing him to continuously maintain speed as he puts on good weight slowly rather than a rapid weight gain. I could just see Alonzo very frustrated on the sideline of the Auburn game but Demontre and Price were working with him. He just needs an offseason of confidence and could come out next year light years better.
Didn't every other program recruit Hatten for OL and we were the only one recruiting him as a 3-4 DE? How about trying him at OG this spring?
I watched Hatten in HS and he was soft and lazy on the OL too. Just doesn't have the right mindset to play football IMO.
There are a lot of freshmen who don't have the mindset and get it figured out. Give them some time
Benny - Zo has definitely played some 3 this year.
Not writing him off at all - but Hatten I think has only played against Sam? Not the best sign.
True. But he's at DE now. Played much better at DE since that's his natural spot. It seemed when he changed is number from 55 to 83 he also changed to DE.
Hatten is a guy that is behind three HS DTs and one pending juco guy right now even before stepping in campus.
