Minnesota firing Tubby Smith seems like a really weird move. I'm not much of a basketball guy but is he the kind of coach we could get? I didn't pay a ton of attention to Minnesota but they seemed to hold their own in the Big 10.
Before its said, yes I realize Kennedy is sticking around. Just curious about Tubby Smith.
I wouldn't think so.

Would take Tubby in a heartbeat. Howland as well.
Sorry, I read that as "would get" not "could get." It would certainly be possible, but I don't think it's where A&M would look first if they were looking.
I'm sure he'll get snatched up somewhere pretty quickly. I am a bit on the fence as to whether this is a "go get the mid-major up and comer" situation or we'd be better suited to hire a Tubby/Howland type. With the latter, I'm just always concerned with the determination to succeed. When you've done it and then actually taken a step BACK, I can imagine it's tough to retain the passion to succeed. However, if we're all on board with the fact that A&M isn't going to succeed by recruiting one-and-dones but getting the best guys we can get and building a solid team, the risk with a guy like Tubby is pretty small.
That being said, obviously this is a pointless discussion until this time next year. Still rooting for Billy.
You should stop rooting for Billy. He's done. He's never coming back.
You don't think he's our coach next season, Hugh? I wouldn't argue for a second that he's done after next season - I just don't see the change happening now unless Hyman has an ace. All that to say, I'm still going to games next year and will root for the guy until the season is over. No way to suggest that he's done well here.
I would be shocked if Gillispie coached the Aggies ever again. Beyond shocked actually.
That's my bad. Thought you were referring to Gillispie.
Yes, Kennedy will be our coach next season.
well there's your ultimate indicator of BK's impact here. you refer to him by his first name and we assume it's the Billy from like 6 years ago.
Of course. Kennedy has done nothing to deserve to be called by first name.
