I know this has been discussed before on here, but it's been a long time. Any good suggestions?
Some of the suggestions I've gotten so far: St. Lucia, Belize, Phuket, Maldives, Bora Bora
Punta Cana in the Dominican is where My wife and i went and others on here as well and I believe we all had good times from the previous threads, cheaper than those above

Your logic is boggling my mind
Not Aruba. It's nice for about 2 days and then just boring.
You don't have to censor that?
St. John, USVI
Jalousie plantation St.Lucia no more beautiful place on earth.
I went to Thailand for two weeks. 4 nights in Bangkok and then 8 nights in Koh Samui. I can't wait to go back.
Check out Turks and Caicos. We went there two years ago and was great Honeymoon destination.
You don't have to be first, just do it better!
We loved Jamaica. Can get direct flights out of Houston as well which we liked as opposed to spending 12 hours or more in transit from TX to Miami, layover, and then whatever island you are flying to.

What are you looking for? All inclusive, lay on the beach, drink and hump your hearts out for 7 days kind of place? Or are you interested in getting out and seeing the island, hiking, etc.
"I like Bears and if you're going to be a bear, UMMMMM, BE A Grizzley"
I've been to Bora Bora twice, Maldives, St Lucia, Santorini, and Ibiza.
After going to these locations we went back to Bora Bora for our honeymoon. Anywhere with huts over the water is a winner. Maldives is beautiful but NOTHING there and it's a 36 hour flight. Bora Bora is a 5 hour flight from LA.
If you want something different and exotic check out Seychelles. I've never been but want to. It will also be a 30 hour flight. Good luck!
places like Hawaii, Fiji, Bora Bora, Bali, Thailand, etc. take FOREVER to get to.. your wedding and reception will be exhausting and you may want to get somewhere quick and relax ASAP the next day. Mexico, the Carribean, DR, Costa Rica, etc. would be a nice honeymoon and only a 2-3 hour flight from IAH. I'd save up and go somewhere like Bora Bora when you're old and rich and all your kids are away at A&M.

One of my Tahiti trips I got for $5k. Original price was $12k for 10 days.
Hey Sherm, me and my fiancé have been looking at places like the Bahamas as opposed to St. Lucia because of flight time. HUGE difference. Keep that in mind.
Thanks for the help Ags. Upvotes for everyone giving out advice. We haven't talked a lot about what we want, but we're thinking something beachy (which is what all of the suggestions so far have been anyways). I'd probably like a mix of "all inclusive, lay on the beach, drink and hump your hearts out for 7 days" and "getting out and seeing the island, hiking, etc." I have my SCUBA certification, but I've never been anywhere besides the Rec pool and Lake Limestone for my checkout dives (where I could hardly see arm's length). My fiancee would like to get certified too before we go anywhere. We're really up for anything; we're just thinking we'd rather go all out and do something we won't normally do for a vacation until we're older and the (future) kids are out of the house
We did all inclusive as well for the same reasons.
We stayed at the Grand Iberostar and it was perfect as far as all inclusives go. Premium drinks, great food for an all inclusive, good pools and good beach.
They have them in Mexico and Dominican Republic as well. I think wmitchell went to the one in the DR.
Iberostar Grand Rose Hall, Rose Hall: See 1749 traveler reviews, 2104 candid photos, and great deals for Iberostar Grand Rose Hall, ranked #1 of 5 hotels in Rose Hall and rated 4.5 of 5 at TripAdvisor.
I went to Excellence Punta Cana and it was a blast.
I'd also suggest looking at the grand iberostar (be careful though there is two iberostars in punta Cana and one is alot better than the other). I'd am also planning on making a trip to Excellence Playa Mujeres as well (right outside cancun).
i personally like diving and travelling to different places most havent been. so if you wouldnt mind doing something like that i'd suggest you look at Palau and Thailand.
It took us 3 hours to get to Miami and then 3 hours to St. Lucia. Easy. Bahamas is like 30 minutes less. St. Lucia is the most beautiful place on earth. I have been to many places. Trust me dude
That sounds like a hell of a deal. I looked at going there but plane tickets alone were like $2500 each.
I went to the Bahamas. Had a lot of fun. Went scuba diving with sharks, swam with dolphins and bone fishing. I suggest not fly fishing either unless you are really good. It is one thing to do it on rivers but the wind is brutal in saltwater. Have to be good at the double hauling technique.
Sherman I know you dive...so Grand Cayman. Nice place, really friendly people, speak English, not a long flight, and plenty of stuff to do. Every sunset we chilled on the beach watching the sunset drinking frozen drinks.
Just so you know I have been to Belize, Cozumel, Hawaii, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Roatan, and Bermuda. I would recommend GC over all of them for your honeymoon. If you are going all out the Ritz is right on the beach.
Future Mrs. aggiematt235 and I booked our honeymoon yesterday. We're going to Montego Bay in Jamaica. Don't have any friends that have been there, but all sorts of reviews say it's great. We're staying at the Sandals - Montego Bay. All inclusive. Should be fun.
You are either going to be a leader or not. to be a leader, you throw your shoulders back, tits to the sky, head up, cock out.
We got $600 roundtrip flights each from LA on Air Tahiti Nui. They also serve free champagne on the flight. Champagne and Ambien don't mix FYI. If you do go, split time between Moorea and Bora Bora. BB gets all the press, but Moorea is just as pretty. Its a larger island with more to do and half the price. Do a 7/3 day split between the 2. There's only 1 restaurant and one small village on Bora Bora. The island is tiny. Of course all the resorts have their own restaurants and they ain't cheap.
Sandalls resort Antigua is pretty good
