Let's see how the season ends for both conferences and then have this discussion.
Big 12 commissioner lobs barb at departed schools
This post was edited by brantpb 20 months ago
Translation: "Our conference is so damned uninteresting that I need to continue talking about A&M and Missouri to get people to pay attention."
Nebraska heads North? Not a word. Colorado heads West? Same thing. Missouri and A&M head southeast? Everybody and their dog feels the need to take a shot. Why? They are jealous, intimidated, or grasping at straws to try and make themselves feel validated. Who cares. Let them talk all they want. We are better off and they know it. All they have is their petty words which are worthless. Good for them.
Agree. It's just funny...you'd think they'd have enough positives to say about their own conference they wouldn't have to resort to this. Apparently not...the truth hurts.
They took a school that had been turned down by both the SEC and ACC and a school that had zero chance of ever getting anyone's attention that matters.
Yeah, huge trade up. Except...
The big12 did the exact opposite of what you want to do. They added teams that bring nothing as far as fan following or money, but are just good enough on the field to beat anyone on any given day, but not good enough to win championships.
That's worst case scenario in expansion. But the Big12 wasn't looking to expand, it was looking to survive. No other option but to take from the trash pile.
Sounds like a real class act.
What he meant to say was that his own Conference is so uninteresting that he couldn't find anything of note to talk about. He could talk about the Conference Championship they dont have or all the exciting matchups outside of the RRS that everyone is clamoring to view. The Big 12 is the new Big East.
Like cam said, a conference fighting to survive has no leg to stand on.
This sounds like a political campaign with a lot of spin. Previous poster was right - there wasn't much said when Nebraska and Colorado left as Texas was leading the charge to take A&M, Tech, OU, and Ok. St. with the to the Pac 10 at the same time. Then A&M blew up tu's plan when we said hey we are a better fit in SEC.
Texas plan all along was to launch this network and screw everybody else's best interests.
It was very personal to tu when we left. They never felt like we would do it. But regardless of who is higher ranked this year, they did lose a major TV footprint in Missouri and the sixth-largest fan base in America in A&M, as well as two AAU universities. The SEC is now better academically than the Big 12.
The only reason Texas agreed to take TCU in the Big 12 is because OU and Ok. St. wanted another game in Texas.
Suck my dick bowlsby
Scout, how about TCU and/or WVU in order to not be in default of the TV contracts.
Fuck that guy.
TCU and WV fared well in shit conferences. They will be also rams in the watered down big 12.
And you can brag about rankings all day long, but TCU doesn't do shit to increase revenues.
What sucks is that as soon as the Ags lose their first SEC game, all those piece of shit writers are going to start with the "I told you so" articles. it won't matter that everyone is beating everyone in the big whatever. they'll just say that the league is "more competitive" rather than calling a spade a spade. The big xii is shit.
You are either going to be a leader or not. to be a leader, you throw your shoulders back, tits to the sky, head up, cock out.
This chitt, simply doesn't matter, doesn't suprise me that we & the SEC are in their head though.
