My concern is not with any position.....it will be with ATTITUDE & INTENSITY!
Proverbs 10:4 (NIV)
Lazy hands make for poverty,
but diligent hands bring wealth.
Not concerned with OL or WR one bit.
DL is the only semi-question mark I got.
Difference is, we are actually at a point in our program where we have DEPTH to throw at the worries.
My concern is do the current players know just how close they are to being national champs and if they feel it enough to demand the fish that come in to come into camp serious and working for an immediate goal. If we realize that and our upperclassmen enforces it along with coaching staff, we will have fewer weaknesses than any opponent and thereby win our first of possibly 3 consecutive Natty's
Oline will be excellent again. Dline will be young but very good in my opinion. WR will be one of our most talented positions, young but very very good. LB will be my biggest question personally. Can the JUCO guys step in right away and play at a high level? I think they can but they will be tested early.
I'm still worried about front 7 on D. I'll feel better after the 2013 class is soph and the 2014 class is coming in. It is amazing that we will finally have real talent on D rather than a bunch of rejects.
Reject is harsh but I just meant that our D appears to be trending in the direction of having depth of talent. Even this year when the D played well the backups were not very good. The last 10 years have been really painful especially on the defensive side of the ball. Trending up
not concerned with the #1s next year so much. still depth issues mostly.
I think replacing Pat and Luke on the OL will be difficult, but I like the talent that will be filing for them- should be okay. However we were extremely lucky with injuries this past season. Our depth will always be a slight concern until we see them in action. I do think that there is some adequate #2s for the OL though. Whomever loses the now open OG spot between Compton/Klinke/Ifedi will be solid. Cheek got a lot of exp/PT this past year at OT and Ifedi and Klinke have played some OT. Compton also backs up Mike Matthews at C.
The WR corps will only have 1 sr, 2 jrs, and 2 sophs... so a lot of these 7 or so freshman (plus RS freshman Pope) will play... we'll have some inexperience out there, but they're talented. all of them. Not too concerned. I'm not sure if there's a leader in the group though. Someone like Swope that dictates how hard they work all offseason and in practice, someone that pops back up and says, "THANKS, GIVE ME SOME MORE" to the Bama defenders after they get leveled.
The RBs - no concern. Malena and Trey did it all year with all all of C-Mike's troubles and depth-wise, we've been hearing good things about Tre and Brandon for a while now. James White is a suitable D1 RB in his own right, too, if it comes down to it.
The QBs - don't know yet. Obviously, we're set with QB#1. Once Showers is gone, we need to see how good Matt Davis is as a potential #2 and we need to see if Kohl and/or Kenny actually make it to campus. If Showers is gone, Kenny gets scared, and Kohl gets paid millions by an MLB team, there's reason for some depth concern, even though it seems like no one could get a solid hit on Johnny this year.
on Defense -
DeMontre, Nealy, and Mathis seems like a lot to lose, but we at least return guys all over the DL that played a lot. WDE is a spot that is a concern. Hope for Brandon Alexander to step up. Taylor brothers or Obioha sliding across is there, too. Interior has Ennis returning and Ivan and Alonzo at least have played a lot and got some exp this past season, with 3 fellas coming in that are the real deal and will play early on. SDE has Obioha, Gavin, and Alonzo - all of whom have played.
the two Sr starters at LB that we lose should be replaced by two high-end JUCOs that are at least here at the mid-term. Still a real depth concern here, so some fish will be playing. Jenkins is a bonafide bad ass though. Baggs has a lot of exp under his belt now too. These guys might all have a new position coach too so we'll see how they all adjust and see how the effort looks. I think the biggest concern is who will step up as a leader? Porter and Stewart brought something more than talent and tackling - they were focused and kept the team focused.
I think we have some talent at #1s at CB - DeVante and DeShazor as well as Jacobs and Raven got a bunch of PT. We're bringing in two very solid CBs that might play. At Safety, Howard Matthews really showed up this year. Had a huge Cotton Bowl showing, too. There's an open spot and little proven depth here. One of the biggest concerns I think... some guys don't look like they're panning out - maybe some will - Honeycutt? Burns? Marshall? Johntel Franklin? ...Kam Miles and Shaan Washington are very athletic as well and could play as freshmen.

As long as we have Kevin Sumlin and Mark Snyder, I really have zero concerns.
I'm concerned at DE. Worried we won't create enough pass rush we need to help our talented back four. I'm concerned at LB too. Lots of numbers at LB but youth and inexperience will cause some anxiety this off season.
However, our secondary is going to be nasty. It's likely going to be:
FS Raven (bet)
LB and replacing senior leadership are my primary concerns.
The bama game will be an early test for whichever two LBs fill in next to Jenkins. It will be a nice welcome to the SEC for any of the JUCO guys if they get the nod.

I'd prob switch Raven and everett, but I agree that the secondary should be MUCH better next year. We'll need them to be.
Maybe posting's just not your game. I know, let's have a spelling contest.
