Not sure who you are arguing with. Im not crying if we lose Snyder, but I also appreciate continuity amongst a staff and the peace of mind it may give Sumlin.
I still don't see the issue you have with what he said. He probably is about to get a raise and sees the attractiveness of the position right now. So he doesn't want to bolt again, who cares? Ultimately he will be held accountable for his performance on the field. Anything short of excellence will be dealt with accordingly. This is what Sumlin demands.

"I like Bears and if you're going to be a bear, UMMMMM, BE A Grizzley"
Needless to say I couldnt disagree with this tool earl blubberdouch more.
Actually you needed to say it. So explain. Excellence isn't your ambition? Being ok is good?

Believe it or not, not every coach WANTS to be a HC. And you can still be a dang good coach in spite of that. Chavis & Foster are two great examples.
Did you conveniently forget he was the DC when Ohio State won the Natty back in 2002? Doesn't sound like shitty coaching to me bud. Give him some time and we'll be back to Wrecking Crew status.. You have to like what he's done with the players we had this past season, especially with the D-line since they were supposed to be our Achilles' heel.
Here's my complete list of posters across all boards currently under contract I wouldn't mind seeing never post again.

The SEC might be a "defense" first league but that doesn't mean there is not a lot of talent on offense in this league. The lower scoring has to do with scheme as much as the defensive talent being good. Snyder is a good defensive coach coupled with also being a good recruiter. To take a team with little depth and having to change to a brand new scheme, Snyder did wonders.
Stats can also lie when you choose only one stat to make a point. Sometimes, you have to let your eyes do the evaluating and I saw vast improvement from the defense this year over last year. It is far better to pay attention to also pay attention to metrics like scoring defense where the Ags ranked 29th. Also, maybe you should point out that the Ags gathered 6 more turnovers this year over last year.
Continuity of scheme is a hallmark of a successful program and something tantamount to the success Tennessee and now LSU has with Chavis and what Virginia Tech has had with Bud Foster. The players on defense are not extremely talented but they are playing hard and with the offense under Sumlin, rankings in the top half of FBS can consistently deliver opportunities for 10 win seasons.
Why is there even an argument about Snyder? He did a phenomenal job with the talent level he had to work with in his first season in the SEC. It's only going to get better going forward. I'm glad he will be around for a long time to build the defense into a perennial Top 10 unit.
Nealy wasn't a walk-on. He "greyshirted" and paid for one semester of school knowing he'd be full scholarship for the rest of his career after that semester. To call him a former walk-on implies that he wasn't worth a DI scholarship when he joined the team. They just greyshirted him so they could bring in more ppl.
Maybe posting's just not your game. I know, let's have a spelling contest.
While I agree with BB's point that I want coaches that don't see A&M as a destination job, I want coaches that are hungry and will do anything to succeed because they think there is something else out there for him, to say Snyder has sucked for the majority of his career is incorrect. He sucked as a head coach, he's been awesome as a D-Coordinator.
Good thing he isn't a head coach then, isn't it? He's got a ring from tOSU as a dc, i think he's a pretty fucking good coordinator.
Credit goes to him for bringing in great coaches and recruiters in Yates, wally, and price (Sumlin said he let Snyder pick his coaches). Our defense was scary thin everywhere, and he did a pretty damn good job with what he had. He had the bright idea of switching Nealy top one technique against Bama, ands he embarrassed their all world center.
His record as a HC is irrelavant, his record as a DC and position coach are relevant. You want statistics so that you can prove your point, well add relevant factors like when did we go to 2nd and 3rd team D players in games and when did the 1st team O come out giving the D more play to defend. Always remeber stats are subjective and can easily be skewed to produce a desired outcome because liars figure and figures lie. The problemis human create the test situation and it includes personal bias and since 1 person can't discern a universe of facets for a test, it really can be lacking in complete accuracy. 56 is not really a repesentative estimate IMO.
I'm not going to look out up right now because inn on the road, but I know we have a good scoring and 3rd down defense. Those are the two most important defensive stats, total defense doesn't mean shit. Good third down defense is as valuable as turnovers, and scoring defense is the bottom line for what matters on defense. Game isn't won by total yards, but total points.
earl if you have a wife I really feel for her. you could have the best sex of your life and say "well it could have been better here". you are a real downer man. the guy took a unit that was a tragedy in the making and made them competitive. he had some talent but you really thought obioha and ennis and the red headed stranger were going to make us remember the wrecking crew. the guy has to mobilze his players from week to week he rotated guys getting matchups in the secondary and on the line that allowed us to compete in the best conference in the country.
i look forward to the day when he has the same talent that a forida, lsu and alabama can field. hell even USC has better defensive talent than we do. also if you watch the actual games we score fast as hell and often force the other teams to try to do the same. your stats will suffer in those kinds of games. don't get me wrong there are issues on defense I just don't think coaching is the one to focus on. get me some players and it looks like they are trying to address that pronto
Earl bangs other people's wives.
Na, I just don't over-commit myself financially to marginal run o the mill pussy.
When I get that top 5 snizz, I'll lock her down.
I have realized my value as a potential husband and won't settle for #56 out of 119.
Snyder would do just fine if he exchanged rosters with Chavis at LSU
This message always comes across as ultra-offensive on this board for some reason.
As long as he does a great job and continues to improve, then who cares if he wants to be a DC forever. Being happy with what you have and putting family first still counts for something.
In other words you will never be locked down.
Your arrogance is typical to a sip.
Because you and dumbass would talk shit even if we had a top 5 class.
No I wouldn't.
I've already admitted complete dumbassery in my assessment of our recruiting.
Asking to see it first isn't insane, however. Paying prior to delivery is what buttfucked us sideways with Fran and Sherman. Sorry that isn't obvious to you, Mr Angry Guy.
Now shouldn't you be out patrolling the boards in case some evildoer like Chip does something completely benign again?
POTY buddy...let me know when you want to grab a beer. Thx for the good laugh.
