What are the chances we lose him to Tech? The knock will be his age but he sure showed me something. I hope we do lose him someday to a head coaching gig, that means we continue to put up big numbers, I would just like it not to be those dorks in Lubbock that get him.
If he is offered the job I think he would definitely leave. However, I would think that Briles, Dykes, and maybe even Petrino would get looked at first.
I don't see him going.
...who the heck seriously knows except God, and Sumlin. ~ Aggiemom6
He's got one of the best QBs in college football history and plenty of money post raise. He's not going to leave that for Tech and Lubbock. It would be career suicide an one of the Top 10 dumbest moves in coaching history.

I think he would certainly take the Tech job if he's offered it, but I doubt they'd offer it to him, just doesn't have the experience.

He won't be with us long, but I seriously doubt this is the year.
That's not what he is telling his buddies.
I really don't think it would be a dumb move. Plus it's his alma mater, and if I were a coach I would pretty much take the A&M job over any in the nation, even if some of the others were better situations football wise.
A&M >>>> Tech
As an alma mater.
Rumors that Tech is raising money for Briles:
Absolutely. But they are in a BCS conference and I don't see him getting a significantly better offer two years down the road without head coaching experience.
I think kk's stock is really high right now, but like Kirby Smart - I think he stays and develops Johnny and that makes him a big name for any program.
let's keep in mind the following facts:
1)Tech is a dumpster fire right now. Graduating a Sr. QB, therefore, he has to train a QB, with little experience. Would have to re-revamp back to the personel that Leach had 4 years ago.
2)It is his alma mater--BUT--this is also the same administration who fired, and persecuted his mentor, Mike Leach. Does he want to jump into a situation that led to Leach's firing and was so bad that Tuberville would rather coach in the Big East at Cinci?
3)Name one head coach at a BCS school with less than 5 years experience--ever. Closest I could come up with is Mike Singletary to the 49'ers (NFL, but its close). He had 12 yrs. experience as a player + 5 years as a position coach. No offense to KK's pro career, but... '03 (IR), '04 (practice squad), '05 (practice squad), '06 (NLFE), '07 (CFL).
4)Five years ago, UH had to make a title for him on the coaching staff (something like Quality Assurance Director). Now he's OC of an SEC school. There's a lot to being HC besides what takes place on Sat. He probably hasn't learned that yet.
5)who are the assistant coaches going to be? Often times assistants are hired because you crossed paths with a guy and hit it off/liked his style. Not enough experience to bring in anyone of name right now.
He's not going to Tech.
The true test of a man's intelligence is how much he agrees with you.
I have heard from an inside source from UofH who still talks to him daily that he is definitely wanting to get back to Lubbock without doubt and isn't as in love with College Station as we all hope. However, I still am not convinced that Tech offers or he wants out. I think he wants to grab another Heisman with Johnny before he skates.
What is he telling his buddies?
JFF is making KK more than the other way around. Plus Sumlin knows what he is doing. It's a scheme that others know how to run well. You need the players to run it. How's mike leach, wv staff, okie state doing? Same style coaches...difference is JFF.
Do we as fans put more into coaching where you played? We as fans obviously think the best job in the world would be coaching at A&M, but we are fans who live our school. Some players will love their college because maybe they started as fans, but some go to a school because that is where the scholarship was... I don't hear about Sumlin looking at the Purdue job? So why do we think Kingsbury is dead set on coaching at tech? Wouldn't it make more sense that he wants to coach at the biggest and best schools possible - just don't see tech fit into the biggest and best.
He makes like 400k? here.
Tech could throw 2 million at him. Would be really tough to turn that down.
I have known many people who have gone to work for startups for less pay, worse hours, but a much bigger upside. Wouldn't that be similar situation as this. If he stays, he will have many chances for a head coaching gig at better schools with more upside than tech...
Ken Starr will just sue to stop it
I have to believe as close as we are to a National Championship it will play into his decision. He may not ever be in this good of position again to win one. My opinion is he rides the wave a little longer.
Career decisions are better than alma mater decisions.
I hope he stays, but he is going to a great Head Coach one day. He has a lot of energy and really understands the college player. I hope he stays, but if he gets a great offer I wish him all the best and appreciate all he has done for Aggieland.
