I'm 24 and I agree with you. I hate how many young people think it's cool to talk shit about the country and the election and how nothing can be done. The bottom line is one of the candidates is better than the other; even if you think they are both bad you should do what you can to make sure the better one gets elected.
Phil you did read the Patriot Act that Bush passed and the NDAA that Obama passed? Come on man we are talking about facts here. Just wait and see what happens to this country soon...I'm prepared you should be too.
I agree that voting should not be taken for granted but if we lived in a country that counted the popular vote then I would vote. I guess nobody remembers the 2000 election? Popular vote does not count. Can anybody prove that it does? Even one of the most distinguished A&M professors wrote a very popular book on how the electoral college is a failed system.
I am a former prof at tamu, I served 11 years there and I know who you are referring to.
Writing a book does not make you right or an expert, it means someone could profit from your opinion and point of view.
My opinion is the electoral college in antiquated and should be reassessed.
But as to your main point, always remember popularity is opinion and instance in time. Is a popular majority vote at a single day a reflection of our population ideology over four years?
That is a interesting way to look at but then we would have to have electoral voting every 6 months lol.
