Texas started off the year with some very good recruits, but they have fallen apart. The guys listed below were all committed to tu at one time and have since decommitted. I have also listed their Composite rank in the state.
2. RSJ - 5* Ath (WR) - Aggies
4. A'Shawn Robinson 5* OT/DT - Bama
23. Daeshon Hall 4* WDE - Washington (Ag)
29. Kyle Hicks 4* RB - Purple Baylor
36. Durham Smythe 4* TE - ND
Texas also missed out on some of their top targets. I think Texas was considered the leader or at least in the final 2 or 3 for these players.
3. Robbie Rhodes 5* WR - Baylor
9. Dontre Wison 4* RB - Ohio St.
18. Andrew Billings 4* DT - Baylor or TCU
44. Caleb Benenoch 4* OG - UCLA
I know every school has players decommit and misses out on guys they want, but not to this extent. Has anyone ever seen this many top recruits decommit from any school without a coaching change? Plus, much of it seems to be happening close to NSD. Texas doesn't normally lose guys to TCU and Baylor, but they are going to finish 3rd for Billings behind both schools. This is how far tu has fallen.
per the sip posters, decommits rarely ever pan out and this is just the way to filter out the busts before they ever get to campus.
They're definitely in a rut with little to no momentum. Lots of sexier programs to choose from for now. We've been there before for sure. I just hope they stay there.

remember back when RSJ decommitted from them, just to reassess, and many thought he'd still ultimately end up with them? That was one of the rarest things for a sip recruit from TX to decommit from them. They had had like 1 or 2 OOS kids decommit over the years (like the TE from AZ last year), but a kid from Tx? who would have thought at that time last summer that it would happen at least 4 more times in this recruiting cycle alone!?
That is some seriously conjured up shit right there.
Thank God for their sakes they didn't land Herron or Wilson this weekend! That would've sucked for them....morons.

According to their posters, all decommits will be saddled with the "Mack Curse". They're actually serious about this.
They're not imploding, they just aren't getting the caliber class they're used to.
That said, Mack has always needed a very decided talent advantage to win games, so this probably spells the end for him.
We have been out recruited. The biggest thing in my eyes is the pending coaching change. The entire staff will most likely turnover before the 2013's finish their eligibility either by choice or by force. (No excuse in my opinion given our program.) It was obviously easier to land some of these guys because we were winning 10+ games a year and going to BCS games. Winning would have kept a couple of those guys listed and been able to flip a couple others. No doubt the weaker teams like TCU and Baylor have established coaches who aren't retiring any time soon and can develop talent and have won some big games (TCU Rose Bowl) or had transcendent players (RG3 - Baylor) to sell now all while Texas has not won or developed enough talent.
RedTail is right and we have no momentum or flash as we did prior to 2010. You guys understand that. You broke out this year and won and winning cures all. The talent will come as evidenced by your awesome 2013 class and growing 2014 class. The only thing I can advise is hang on for the ride because it will be fun as a fan.
cameron00 - i hope you are right that this will spell doom for Mack. We just need new blood. Mack took the program and reestablished it and we need a different type of coach right now to develop talent a la Saban.
Hookem for Life!
Mack did a hell of a job, its just time to pass the torch.
100% Agree. he started this early recruiting pitch and he will be doomed by it. We will see. I wish we had Urban Meyer or Muschamp.
When is their first junior day? Curious to see which recruits still fall for Mack's pitch.
Not sure which weeks in Feb they are, but they are soon. I am sure if their is a commitment, it will be sung from the rooftops and the timer will start for the over/under decommitment train for 2014. Mack and DeLoss are the conductors.
Did Billings already announce? I thought he was later today?
Regardless, your premise is correct.
Billings to Baylor - I repeat Billings to Baylor. Mack should put this on his iPod and put it on repeat.
