I thought about this the other day.. I like the old-school approach they're taking but it makes me think twice.. What do you all think? Should we take a different approach?
In an era of over-the-top Heisman Trophy campaigns, the Aggies are taking a different approach with the freshman quarterback sensation Johnny Manziel.
Disagree...everyone is talking about JFF and him not talking just provides more of a mystery to the media...idk what people expect A&M to do to bring the hype to another level...
I read tweets from the Dallas Morning News complaining about "all the propaganda" they're getting from Kline and even the QB at Louisville. Said they all come with trinkets like bubble gum, etc.
Said they appreciated not getting hammered by A&M with junk.
It's coming. I promise. Just wait
I don't think they need to be sending out crap to voters. But as I said the other day, I think the biggest obstacle now is probably the schedule. While JFF is playing Sam Houston on PPV and a Mizzou game that isn't going to get a lot of attention, the candidates at KSU and Oregon are going to be playing big games with national championship implications over the next three weeks.
I would like to see them arrange some high profile interviews immediately after the Mizzou game, assuming that is cool with Sumlin, to make one final push. But honestly unless at least KSU loses, I don't think it's going to matter.
KSU and Oregon will both lose before the season is over. The issue will be that USC may win out, and if they do, it'll be over three ranked teams, due in large part to Marquis Lee. We'll see. I like Sumlin's approach, and I think the team is responding and playing as well as they are because of it.
Any idea on a timeline? What are we waiting for?
Oregon I can see. But who is KSU going to lose to? Baylor? Texas? Highly doubtful.
Missouri game will be at 6pm CST, good stuff.
I've never thought that media pushes by the school were worth it, it's never really helped a player win I don't think.
I do think they're going to need to put him in front of the microphone soon though.

If KSU hosts a 9 win tu squad, just wait to see what happens.
He can't win this year. He is still a freshman.
For him to win, those voters would have to admit they were wrong not to give it to Hershal Walker and Adrian Peterson.
Not shelling out is a smart move by our marketing department.
Right now we are just campaigning for next year. So save the money and bring out the big guns next year.
Any money we spend this year we'd have to top next year to show the voters we are behind him.
I disagree, if Kansas State loses, he very well could win.
I agree with you that the voters don't want to have to admit they're wrong.
I'm too young to remember Hershal Walker's season, and admittedly I wasn't a huge college football fan (at least not as much as I am now) during AD's freshman season.
How do those 2 seasons compare to the one JFF is having?
You are either going to be a leader or not. to be a leader, you throw your shoulders back, tits to the sky, head up, cock out.
Walker was 30 years ago. I would bet there are less than 15 percent of the guys voting today that voted then.
I am pretty sure the campaign has started today. @AggieFootball is filling up my twitter stream today with #JohnnyFootball tweets...
“@RandyMcIlvoy: @AggieAthletics have begun Johnny Manziel Heisman push. The hashtag of course is #johnnyfootball. He may not win but should be in NY #gigem”
