SEC SEC SEC!!!
DT: A. Williams/Manning (split time)
NT: Ennis/Golden (split time)
BS: H. Matthews
CB: Jacobs (w/Garner or Ellis mixing in)
Solid list Cb, thanks. You think Ivan will get much PT?
Everett @ CB; Raven @ FS
That would be nice.
3 man fronts will be interesting, who is the 4th lb then? claiborne? chevis? Is Hurd on the field most of the time? What about raven? I think the secondary will have a constant of Mathews and Everett, who will play both, and then a rotating cast of miles, Marshall, Harris, garner, Ellis (Hurd and raven in the hybrid roles) I dont trust jacobs
Your logic is boggling my mind
I think Brett wade plays a lot. Watch out for the younger Taylor brother too.
-- If you're gonna be a bear, BE A GRIZZLY! --
Both good calls, forgot about wade, If Obioha isn't 100% I think we could see Alonzo or arnold/points/walker out there at SDE, we could have a pretty big front on running downs
Y'all are forgetting about the shark movement.
Where do you see Polo fitting in to this mix?
DE - Obioha, Stansbury
NG - Ennis or Golden, Manning
DT - Ivan, Alonzo, or Manning, Walker
RUSH - Tyrell Taylor or Brandon Alexander, Prevot
WLB - Steven Jenkins, Donnie Baggs, Brett Wade
MLB - Donnie Baggs, Jordan Mastrogiovanni, Reggie Chevis
SLB - Tommy Sanders, Darian Claiborne
CB - Deshazor Everett, Tremain Jacobs, Noel Ellis
CB - De'Vante Harris, Floyd Raven, Tavares Garner
BS - Howard Matthews, Clay Honeycutt, Johntel Franklin or Shaan Washington
FS - Tony Hurd, Ken Marshall, Kam Miles or Devonta Burns
That's a good question. I think polo gets moderate playing time. Judging by his twitter he's been working pretty hard under Jackson on his size.
Depth Chart w/ hybrid roles:
WDE: Alexander, Taylor, (Hall/Prevot)
DT: A. Williams/Manning, Robinson
NT: Ennis/Golden, Walker
Will: Jenkins, Wade
Mike: Baggs, Chevis/Mastro
Sam: Sanders, Claiborne
Nickel Back: Hurd, Ellis
Nickel LB: Raven, Washington/Wiggins
CB: Harris, Jacobs/Ellis/Garner/Raven
FS: Everett, Hurd/Marshall/Raven/Miles/Davis
BS: Matthews, Miles/Wiggins/Washington
CB: (Everett), Jacobs/Ellis/Garner/Raven
Notes: I'm taking a leap of faith with Brandon Alexander. I trust the people saying he's made attitude changes. The physical tools have always been there. I didn't list Points, but I think he has a shot to contribute somewhere on the line if he progresses well in the spring. I'm curious to if Tyrell could stand up and provide depth at Sam if Tyrone develops well at WDE or maybe even vice versa. Polo is a wild card at this point. Does he move inside or stay at SDE? We'll see in spring, but I bet he impacts somewhere.
Linebacker is inexperienced, but there is some talent there. Also, I expect Richmond to be back (I saw him here at Reveille Ranch on Sunday), and if Richardson turns out to be healthy enough then depth is no longer a concern of mine. Secondary is somewhat a mystery right now. I firmly believe that Harris will start at CB and H. Matthews at BS. Everett will be the swing guy based on the talent at FS and CB. He will obviously start at one of those spots. I initially project him at FS because I think we have more talent at CB than S. Honestly, I'd rather not see Jacobs start at CB. But he definitely has a leg up on Garner/Ellis with spring ball. Raven's position is still in question, so I can't bring myself to project him as a starter. I'm not sold on Marshall since I haven't seen him play in live action yet, he could step up in spring and let Deshazor stay at CB. I feel really good about Miles and I think he has a shot to challenge for the FS spot if he comes in and plays well quickly in the summer and fall camp. Best Case Scenario is someone stepping up at FS and allowing Everett to stay at CB, but I bet we see him cross-trained in spring ball. I think Hurd will mainly stick with his role as our Nickelback. He's perfect in that role, but if he steps up and takes the FS job then I think Ellis slides in very nicely there. We don't see the nickel LB much but Raven played well in that role when he had to last year. I expect the same next year. The 4th LB role that Baggs played last year could be filled by Wade (or Richmond if he returns) since he has spring ball, but don't count out Claiborne because of his versatility and athleticism. Overall I'd say there's more pure talent and depth than last year, just not a whole lot of experience.
I'll take a shot... Granted the below is how i believe we will begin the year. By mid season i think there will be a few changes (i.e. i have a feeling that Jordan Maestro will be 2nd string MLB by mid season).
WDE: Alexander, Tyrell Taylor, Arnold, D. Hall, Prevot (i'm saying we get both)
DT: Alonzo Williams, Ivan Robinson, Justin Manning, Walker
NT: Kirby Ennis, I. Golden, Jordan Points
SDE: Obioha, Tyrone Taylor, Gavin Stansbury
WLB: Jenkins, Wade, Richmond (if comes back), Richardson (if he's able to come back)
MLB: Baggs, Chevis, Ward, Maestro (Maestro as the #2 by mid season)
SLB: Sanders, Claiborne, Patterson
CB: Harris, Jacobs, Gardnier
CB: Everett, Garner, Ellis
S: Matthews, Franklin, Honeycutt, Kam Miles, J. Wiggins
S. Raven, Marshal., Burns, V. Davis, S. Washington
Nickle: Hurd, Sezer
LT: Big Matthews, Germain Ifiede (sp)
LG: Compton, Klinke, Joas Aguilar
C: Lil Matthews, Compton
RG: Harrison, Tipoti, Ish Wilson
RT: CedO, Cheek, Stuckey
RB: Malena or Trey Williams or Brandon Williams, Tra Carson, J. White
WR: Jaquay Williams, Pope, K. Parker
WR: Kennedy, La Rue/Holmes, Beep Beep, Gonzalez/Tabuyo
WR: Evans, RSJ, Askew
TE: Hicks, Clear
QB: JFF, Joekle, Davis, Hill/Stewart
Also, if Julien Obioha can not play this coming year (due to injury) i believe we will see Ivan Robinson getting moved to SDE. Anyway, just my $.02....

Polo said he was moving in to tackle, but that was at the beginning of this season. A lot can change between then and now with Obioha injury, Moore leaving, Ennis suspension, and most of all the incoming guys ability to pick it up quickly and Alonzo's progression.
