I'd like your honest assessment of the O Line at this point in the season. Thanks.

...who the heck seriously knows except God, and Sumlin. ~ Aggiemom6
If there is ever a 5* recruit named Cecil that chooses the Ags what would happen?
What are we going to do at tackle when Joekel and Matthews are gone?
I've yet to hear great reviews about any of our backups.
I'll answer on B/U; Cheek and Compton were excellent when they pulled the starters. Gute did a very good job on the blind side.
Honestly this is my biggest fear. We will have to temper our expectations a bit next year.
We lose a ton of players, including the most important parts of our offensive line.
We also lose our linebackers and much of our defensive line.
For most teams that means a rebuilding year, but I'm afraid all of Aggieland will be calling for it to be a national championship year.
Most importantly we have Alabama early in the season. We'll have to be extremely careful not to give up a huge blowout early as they target our problems.
And yes, I know we have some big recruits coming in. Outside of defensive line, most of them will be still learning the system before they can really contribute.
our off line doesn't have to be studly to make the offense work. See Tx Tech.
You want lengthy big guys.
We will have that.
also, both Joeckel and Matthews, I don't see them both leaving. I honestly think Joeckel leaving helps Jake stay. He really wants a shot at left tackle
Daddy, where you been brother? Haven't seen you posting as much.

I dunno, CBS mocks have Moore, joeckel and Matthews all in the top 12 I think..... Them leaving early is obviously good for recruiting but it's hard to replace them when you haven't caught ur recruiting up to guys leaving early, but hopefully that situation only lasts a yr, which can be tempered by a couple top jucos, zadarious smith and a OT
Your logic is boggling my mind
I would be surprised if Matthews leaves.
"So you saying there's a chance."............Lloyd Christmas, 1994.
Perhaps brother Mikey being fast tracked to the center position was the move Sumlin made to ensure this, lets hope
I hate being greedy, but here's to hoping two of the three stay.
Ced can move from guard and play tackle, which is really his more natural position.
Cheek can play tackle, Ifedi can play tackle. I have never been high on Gutes, but he did play well against Auburn. Klinke could probably play tackle in a pinch.
Who is the JUCO from Cali we are recruiting? I have not watched any film.
"I like Bears and if you're going to be a bear, UMMMMM, BE A Grizzley"
I hope so too, but I just can't see it happening. There is just too much money to lose.
If they come back and have a freak accident, they might never make it to the pros, much less be a first round draft pick.
Think about Swope with the concussion hit he took earlier this year.
If it had been worse, he might not touch the field again this year. That would kill any chance at being drafted, if not ever playing football again.
Moore is having knee problems. If that happens again the first play of next season, it could kill his senior year. Think about Jeff Fuller trying to play injured his senior year. It cost him being drafted and didn't help our team at all last year.
I'd love to have all three back, but jumping to the pros is the right move for them.
You are correct, but look at Von. Von was hurt early in the year for his senior year. Finished off well and tested out phenomenal. Fuller was never hurt.
The one thing that Matthews can gain is that he's been a RT his entire career and those guys don't get drafted as highly or paid as much as left tackles do. The sell to Matthews is that he can come back next year, slide over to LT, prove he can play on that side and if he does he'll move up a bunch. That's really the same reason Von came back, he had to prove he could play OLB and when he did that he shot up the draft boards. For Luke, there's very little he can gain by coming back aside from another great year in CS with his bro with a chance to compete for big things next season.
Shhhhhh. The money nazis/injury pussies here who think every kid should leap at money at any chance...you're ruining their night by actually talking sense. I'm not sure that's allowed here?
There are kids who went back when they could have gone pro...Luck, Tebow, Locker, Von, Barkley. There are many reasons to come back and spend another year in college...and just one to leave (money). Different strokes for different folks. Some of you are money nazis/injury pussies, I'm afraid. Staying an extra year in college is not that fucking bad people. Sheesh.
