Headed to New Orleans this week with some friends, got no idea where to go or what to do.

walk down bourbon street until you get to the rainbow flags and turn around and walk back and repeat. everything you will want to do is on bourbon st (eat, drink, people watch).
Pat o's is a good time on bourbon but gets pretty crowded. My gf's family lives there we have been the bourbon a few times but most of the locals hang out on frenchman street which has great music and the bars are more low key.
Port a call is a great burger joint off of Esplanade just down from the quarter if you make it you should try the Monsoon. Cafe du Monde is pretty good also.
If you are wanting to eat... the best place to eat in the NOLA metro area is called Drago's. It's in Metairie, LA; right outside NOLA. Get the Charbroiled Oysters. They best place to go outside of the normal Bourbon trail is in Uptown. You are just getting down there in time for Tulane to return to classes, so the bar scene down on Oak Street and the surrounding areas. Need to hit Jaques-Imo's. Literally the best food or drinks in the area. For late night (i.e. scrounging for pus) go to F&M's.
I just moved back from NOLA to Hou. These are the places that I always suggest outside of doing the whole Bourbon experience. Honestly, those places are generally a better time then Bourbon if you plan on acting like a civilzed person. But thats up to you. Good luck, you'll need it!
What are you looking to do?
Strip club? Penthouse has by far the best looking girls, and it's by far the most expensive.
Tons of awesome bars. Pat O's is the most famous. Get a few hand grenades.
If you don't want to get really crazy and you want to avoid Bourbon, go to the Garden District on St. Charles street, mostly around Tulane. Tons of college bars and restaraunts.
Stay downtown so you can walk to the French Quarter/Jackson Square/Bourbon st. as well as Harrah's.
I think there's a Drago's at the Hilton downtown. Charbroiled Oysters there are famous, but it's not a "must", IMO.
Jaques Imo's is a restaurant uptown that I think serves the best meals in New Orleans. Commander's Palace is also excellent. Emiril's and Brennan's are great. If you must stay/go out in the Quarter, then Galatioir's (sp?) on Bourbon is a great, great restaurant as well. If you're more into something cheaper, Deanie's or Acme have all the oysters and fried seafood & beer you want.
The strip joints in the Quarter are a rip off. Try "Visions"... not anywhere near the Quarter though.
it's me, my roommate, and two girls in our business frat. One of the girls lives in the area so I have no idea yet on walking distance to bourbon. basically looking for a good time, down for anything thecity has to offer
I stay at the Riverside Hilton when I go. It's right across the street from Harrah's and Drago's is downstairs. It's also a couple hundred yards down from Mother's which was on the Travel channel Diner's Dumps and Dives or whatever that show is called. Easy Walk to Bourbon. Pat O's is bad ass. The Hurricanes will sneak up on you. If you go, tell Babs hi for me. Cafe Du Mont is pretty cool for breakfast but it will be packed no matter when you go. Love the city. Eat as much local cuisine as you can. Tropical Isle' is where you can get hand grenades.

Beignets at Cafe Du Mont for breakfast, VooDoo BBQ for lunch and Hurricanes at Pat O's the rest of the night.
You better bang those hos.
This sounds like someone that's been to New Orleans about once.
Typical NO experience:
Hurricanes at Pat Os
Hand Grenades at Tropical Isle
Happy Hour (typically 3 for 1) at Razoo
Beignets (sp) at Cafe Du Monde
Balcony at Cat's Meow
Harrahs Casino at end of Canal
Oysters at Felix's or Acme Oyster House
Hand rolled cigars on Decatur Street
Chargrilled oysters at Drago's or Acme are a must IMO.
Bring a coat if you want to eat at Commander's Palace.
Johnny's poboys is a great lunch spot.
Go listen to a jazz show at Preservation Hall next to Pat O's. it's a good time.
about 2 hours out atm, doubt we go out tonight but I'll definitely keep y'all posted if anything interesting goes down
check out coop's place. its roughly across the street from cafe du monde and is awesome.
Watch out for those Hand Grenades they will get you.
Go out. The bars don't close so party as late as you can. Wake up, repeat.
