At a high level:
-only offered one kid this far tells us QB may not be a priority in this next class. Depends on Stewart and JFF too.
- Nixon on board. Will likely only court five stars like Fornette etc in case we can land one. Mixon too. Nixon and Mixon sounds cool. Law firm style.
-Got the lufkin kid. Coupe more high four stars will suffice
OL *3 minimum
- this spot is tough one. We really need 5 new guys. We just don't have the ships and the supply is low this year.
-Because we can
-So important in the SEC. Lots of quality guys we can get. Cunningham, Garrett, Solomon forget his name etc
- 1 MLB 2 OLB; obviously have both our OlBs. Lets get Whitley and laugh at t.u.
-we have Harvey. Lets get Paris or the kid with too many last names
-We have Collins. Lots of options here
We really need to secure 20 ships. Need to have some difficult discussions with some redshirt sophomores we never see inside the chalk. Running a $300M dollar business now Aggies. It comes with the territory.
We should be signing 100 kids every 4 years. We need to follow the Saban model and sign 22+ every year no matter what. For the last 10 years our benches have been devoid of talent. There is nothing wrong with building depth through numbers/attrition. Every winning program does it
Thats 19...I think there will be 3 CB, and hopefully another LB and OL, which would be 22, which is where i think this class ends up, but man we really need 25 with some of the studs at certain defensive positions...If JFF declares and there is no Kohl, i could see us making a late push for the QB we really want when the time comes
Your logic is boggling my mind
The reality of 2014 is we're going to have to say "no" to a bunch of blue chip (Top 250 national) players (particularly WRs, LBs, and DBs) just due to class size limitations.
I think we'll find a way to sign 20-22. We're not in this to make friends. NC or bust.
3 quick thoughts on the breakdown:
1) I hope we take an elite QB in 2014. One a class. Go national for the best possible player. Everyone should want to be the next Johnny Heisman.
2) We need to continue to try to get 4 OL a year. Emphasis on getting a center and a couple upper echelon tackles (I personally think Tank fits the bill) in 2014.
3) Personally, I'm not sure if Harvey should be slotted as a safety. I'd be inclined to call him a corner, but in reality, he might play a lot of "Tony Hurd" hybrid nickelback/safety. I think ideal situation is DSG and Tony Brown for the last 2 spots, but DSG is an immediate take, and then we can take the best CB or Safety we want anytime between now and NSD 2014.
Harvey and Noel Ellis are both pure football players who just make plays wherever you put them. 2 Honey Badgers taking shit whenever they want.

SEC safeties aren't 5'9". Harvey is a great player but I doubt he's a safety for us based on what Yates targeted at the position this cycle.
2 RB (Mixon)
4 OL (Martin, Brumfield, Smith - I can dream)
3 WR (Cannon and a bigger one.)
1 TE (maybe)
2 DT (Chris Williams-GA, Washington?)
3 DE (Garrett, Cunningham, and 3rd we haven't seen yet. Think Thomas ends up a sip and Willis ends up a tiger.)
3 LB (Close up with Whitely)
2 CB (2nd one best available?)
2 CB/S (Brown)
1 S (DSG)

1 QB (?)
1 RB (Nixon)
4 OL (Davis, Martin, Brumfield, Smith - I agree w/ Chip and think we get all four. Hope Brumfield can play Center)
2 WR (Jeffrey and ??... Quinn, Cannon, Noil, Kitt, Keenan Brown all possibilities)
1 TE (flip Jacory Washington)
2 DT (Chris Williams-GA and Willis III or Ed Ray
3-4 DE (Garrett, Cunningham, and Thomas. Maybe Jarrett Johnson.)
3 LB (Scott, Walker, Whitley)
2-3 CB (Collins and ??... Brown, Adams, Watkins, Roberts (from LA), and Jackson (from CA) all possible)
2 S (Harvey & DSG)
That's 20-21 right there. We need a center, so if Brumfield isn't the guy then we need to go after someone else. With the 2013 WR haul, I think we'll only take 2 unless we land a super stud like Cannon or Jackson from CA wants to play WR here. I think Harvey is a safety all the way. We got our big safeties this year. We need a rangey guy back there and Harvey is a perfect fit. I believe in taking the talent when it's there. This year the CB talent is through the roof. I hope we go full throttle on Brown, Adams, and Watkins and take as many as want on board. I just watched Watkins' film and he is awesome. He's Ischmael Wilson's teammate. We gotta get that guy. I like going to CA for 5* players, but we have all the CB talent we need right here in TX this year. Honestly, I think we land Brown. I just feel good about it.
If we get some 5* types that want on board like Mixon or Fournette (both long shots, IMO) then take them. Otherwise, I think we could have a full class before the season even starts. We already have 7 committed, DSG and Whitley are close, as well as Chris Williams from GA. I think Cunningham shuts it down after a Jr. Day visit this spring and Garrett sounds like he's on the brink, as well. That's good. It will give us a lot more time to evaluate and focus only on the top tier guys and really give them the hard sell. This is shaping up to be maybe the best class we've signed in years. Maybe ever.
need to reload in the trenches especially if Aguilar jumps ship.
very good DT class this year but we need to bring in at least 2 studs at DT
Do you we really need 2 DT's in this class? Points and at least 1 other guys will RS, effectively making them '14 guys.
Nah. Only really need one. If two stud DTs want on board then go for it. I'd say
Well, if we can get Williams and Willis then we will take them. Willis could play DT or DE when we rotate to a 3-man front periodically so it depends on whether you consider him a DT or not.
