Night Owl putting in work. Thanks man.
Okay, now we're just screwing with Mack Brown.
Is he better than who we currently have committed?
Agreed, unless its insurance I think we have bigger needs at adding 1 more CB, QB, TE, and then it's all OL, DE.
Maybe I'm late, but I'm starting to really think Shaan Washington is going to be a Sam OLB for us.
Agindahouse, in the end, I think we have a bigger need fror S than CB. Right now we have 3 guys that can play corner(although a lot think Harvey will be a safety) and IMO one true safety. Harvey and watts could really play either, but from 2013 you got 3 corners and 4 safeties. That 4 could end up 2 though.
But either way, if Vic Davis doesn't make it in and you think wiggins or Washington are going to spin to Lb, I think we could use another safety more than a corner. Right now were set at both. I'd continue to evaluate at both and see what happens this fall.
If Davis makes it in then you probabaly don't need another safety. However, if he makes it in and you think he's more of a corner, you might.
Clearly I'm not in the coaches heads and I don't know how it all shakes out in the end so I'm always talking out my ass. With that said, I was thinking it hinged a little more on whether the coaches were thinking Watts was a CB or S. since they are looking at another S, I assumed he's going CB and then I'm not sold he's the answer for our CB needs. Not sure if I'm even in the ballpark though on that.
Why aren't you sold? Watts looks like a great corner or safety to me.
We're not getting Jamal Adams, why not make a run at this kid?
We're not stacked at the S position Ags.
may not want him.

I'm stoked we have Watts commitment. I see him projecting as more of a safety though. I'd like to get Brown as our next Defensive back ship. If he's not coming I think we still need another CB. But I would not turn away a stud S. For the record, I would not turn away any stud defensive talent any day. That's what we need, I want my wrecking crew back.
And yet we offered?
Does anyone else see watts as the next tony Hurd? He has adequate size and can Bounce around safety and slot cb? Give us a ton of flexibility?
Agree completely. We need another top-flight safety to pair with DSG in this class and it won't be Jamal Adams.
pretty sure we'd take Adams and/or Parker. Both have big time offers. But Adams is going to Austin.
I'm excited about the direction recruiting is going on D. The quality of athlete is much higher across the board than years past when you look at last year and what this year is shaping up to be.
DT's last year, DE's this year. Good DB's in both classes, and stacking talent and depth at the LB position. This LB class could be more athletic than last year and that's saying something. Add 3 stud DE's and the front 7 will have lots of potential compared to the last 15 years.
It's promising boys, not sure the WC will ever return, but the possibility of having a top 25 D every year is in front of us.
**and for the Washington comment above, I would really be surprised if he isn't a Sam backer by the end of his Fr/RSFr year.
@ ReggieF - I see harvey as more of a Hurd comparison given size, Watts on the other hand seems like he can be a bigger guy that provides the same flexibility, maybe ala Everett
I really think Yates likes to have a few guys that can play both, then throw in a couple pure cover corners and both big run stopping safeties and long, rangy safeties....gives him flexibilities depending on the schemes you are facing. I think we saw it last year with the limited DB pool he was working with, and now he is trying to get that talent pool up with versatile guys as well as specific purpose guys
