you want to solve the problem, give teachers a concealed hand gun permit and hold doctors and pharmaceutic al companies responsible for treating patients to shut them up rather than get them cured or better. Xanax, prozac, lexapro, ab iligy, seroquel, cymbalta, celexa, on and on, their purpose,.......make you feel numb rather than have to deal with the crap life throws at you. Everyone involved in this tragedy is a victum of a medical center that failed them greatly. Should a young man that was this ill have even been out of some type of managed care position.
I refuse to give up my rights to concealed carry in an age where I see increasing Federal petty tyrannies at every turn. The critical aspect here is that the citizens be able to check the tyranny of the Federal government, with force if necessary. You don't slow down the learning process in a class just because the least gifted kid is having trouble learning. Neither should you infringe/abridge the 2nd Amendment rights of the responsible strong so as to attempt to reduce the murder caused by the lunatic few. Don't want your kids walking downrange? Dont put them in public school. Know your kid's classmates. Form an opinion on their mental stability and their family background. If you dont take this time, it's on you when the ostracized outcast goes postal. The answer is not to take away my guns, b/c I guarantee you and anyone else will have a very bad day.
Bush's Patriot Act, Obama's NDAA (indefinite detention), trying to ban guns, come on guys don't you just see a little bit of the big picture here. Its almost like the gun control push is the only thing that sparks up people. I guess it will actually take the military or police coming to our front doors to wake people up. Time to wake up and face reality.
Prostitution is illegal in most every state.....if a whore house is uncovered in DC are they going to outlaw having a.....
It is the act not the object....

Lazy hands make for poverty,
but diligent hands bring wealth.
The vietnamese and afghan rebels are waving hello.
In 2010 a man in China killed 8 kids in a school with a knife, but the 2012 story helps your cause more.
Amen and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamen
I just don't understand the paranoid world some of you and many Americans live in. I'm 38 years old, lived in Texas my whole life and have never been afraid of the government. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of friends that say the same things I read on here. I guess I have just never allowed myself to be afraid of something that will NEVER happen. Some of you have watched way too many movies. "if the government goes crazy and attacks". Are you fucking serious?

It's called watching too much Glenn Beck and drinking the Kool Aid
No, it's called holding on to freedoms at all cost.
SEC SEC SEC!!!
Well what are you willing to do or give up to help decrease these types of acts. Do we need the govt telling us what to do? NO! So for the sake of argument lets remove the govt from the equation, what are you willing to introduce/implement with your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, people of influence, etc that will make us all feel that we as Americans are equally commtted to the safety of each other? DO I like walking through a dang MRI machine and taking my shoes off at the airport? Hell know but if thats what it takes to minimize the many places people have to hide objects that they intend to use to harm me or whoever is around, I will take it. Standing back and just acknowledging that people are sick but not offering a solutions is just as non productive as the govt stepping to leverage their authority by taking some of our rights but to many Americans, they need to feel safe and feel that something is being done to minimize the risks of avoidable criminal negligence. What is the solution? For the sake of this discussion, to do nothing is not and option and the govt levying restrictions is not an option. WHAT DO WE DO Mr North!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you. Why do people think something like this could never happen here??
Outlandos, maybe we should ban alcohol since that's leads to more senseless deaths than guns..... Would you libs be willing to go there? I doubt it. But this is a perfect example of how more stricter gun laws will not solve this problem. Look at the drinking laws we have in place now but does that work in preventing all the deaths caused by drunk driving.... And even if we ban drinking you don't think people will find a way around that?.... Lets go deeper... Look at our current drug laws... Some of the most strictest laws we have and yet look at all the drug related violence/killings there are...and yet we can all still get what ever drug we want.... And as for the effect it has on children is uncountable... Just as bad as last weeks killing on a larger scale.... Why don't you libs speak up more on that issue (especially since that has a larger effect on the poor and minority class that you libs pretend to be such champions of in representing) But lets leave that hypocrisy for another debate.
The real issue here is something greater than what the govt can do by passing meaningless laws of security..... What we are seeing here on a grander scale with more frequency is all the hard work the radical left and ACLU have put into removing accountability, religion (of all kinds), self reliance, and morality from the fabric of this country.
The left seems to be more concerned with controlling our freedoms or rights with the knowingly false promises of security rather than offending someone..... That's the issue we Americans have with this debate and it has nothing to do with gun laws per say .. This is just another crises the left is using to create another smokescreen.
It seems like the issue is that we all disagree what will decrease these events from occurring. There is a group that wants to go after the tool used thinking that will fix everything because how can you hammer a mail without a hammer. The other side believes that the problem lies in our society, and the only fix is to change how we asa society operates.
That is half the issue though as the other half deals with the idea that our government, or groups within our government, want to restrict our rights in order to gain more power. And these groups will use any excuse or tragedy to further their cause.
My take is that these people that want to perpetrate evil will find a hammer no matter what we do, and if we want to stop it we need to start working on fixing our society.
Nclawson and parvo: it's called history. People are naive to think it can't happen. Not saying it will, but it definitely can. I don't watch Glenn beck, or the news at all really
Exactly. These psychotic people will find ways to kill no matter what. You can kill more people with a bomb from easily obtainable items than you can with any gun
If that's true then why didn't Lanza just bomb the school? If it's that much easier?
Yes history does repeat itself...mentally ill people using assault rifles to kill as many people as possible in a short amount of time.
I don't think the only answer stricter gun control. There are many other things that need change, but guns are a good start. And I am not a "lib" so don't even go there.
Human beings are predictably unpredictable. I don't understand why this thread has continued into what it is now.
Why do so many feel that have to find reasons why, to that which is unreasonable?
Why do so many need to place blame on tools or controls or societies?
Does nobody get that no matter what law is in place; there will be someone that breaks it. No matter what weapons are removed from the masses; someone will find a way to reintroduce them.
The only theme consistent in these arguments is that people will do whatever they choose to do whenever they choose to.do it, irregardless of law or control or popular opinion or even moral conscience.
People have to come to terms with the simple fact that a human will never be a completely controllable or controlled entity.
My biggest concern with this is the legislation passes and the general population feels progress was made. Ok well after a few months those that vehimently oppose the 2nd will wake up and realize we have several extremely powerful cartels south of the border who have clearly shown they can smuggle drugs, weapons, and humans into our contry with relative ease. Part of the reasons these cartels are so strong is the mexican nationals are not allowed to bear arms and defend themselves. But that is besides the point, banning these firearms in our country is not going to impead the flow into the hands of evil minded individuals but will bring almost a complete hault to those who abide by the law. In a more scary macro view of this situation it will do nothing but make cartels stronger.
If you want to stop barbarians then you need to get a little barbaric.
Put their naked bodies on display so that everyone can ridicule, piss on and make fun of their little dicks.
Ban their names from being mentioned. $10,000,000 fine for a news outlet that reports their name & $10,000 fine to an individual that post their name on-line. All monies go the victims & their families.
These idiots are shooting up schools because there is fame & noteriety in it. They attack the weak & defenseless so they can break some bullshit record and achive a fame in death that they could never hope to achive in life.
Take that away from them & they will be back in the garage sucking on the tailpipe of their car.
Most idiots, including a bunch of you, that use the phrase "assault weapons" have no idea what you are talking about. Fully automatic weapons are illegal and have been for most for a long time.
