Biggio got the most votes and Bagwell got the 3rd most. Sucks though.Biggio should have been first ballot.
Biggio not getting is criminal.
3,000 hits. . . . no other argument needed.
3 time Gold glove at two different positions, 7 time all-star at three different positions, 5 time silver-slugger as primarily a lead off hitter, Career OPS of .796, 3,060 hits, 20 year career, NO cloud of steroids... unbelievable.
Oh yeah, second all time in HBP with 285 and he never charged the mound.
I enjoy how hard it is to get into the Baseball Hall of Fame, but this is just stupid and a slap in the face to Craig and everything he stood for in his career.
The HOF voters as a whole are self important assholes who feel like they are actually members of the HOF.
The first ballot bias is beyond ridiculous.
Wow. I thought for sure Biggio would be a first ballot HOFer. That's awful.
We still love you Craig. Despite what some assholes with a sense of self-inflated worth think of your career.
You are either going to be a leader or not. to be a leader, you throw your shoulders back, tits to the sky, head up, cock out.
Biggio was everything that a baseball player is supposed to be.
Do these guys realize baseball is losing its credibility and skipping over a guy like this isn't helping any.
i agree that Biggio should be in and i think he will..... and let me say this as a huge Astro's fan and a fan of all the hard work he put in as an Astro.... He was a no show, as was Bagwell, during post season play.
I think if you have the stats to be in the Hall thats one thing, but i think you have to be bigger than that these days to get in on first try...... Kind of like needing a Heisman moment. He never really lead his teams in the playoffs... i think he had one good playoff run but i dont even think it was that memorable... in fact i dont think he ever hit above 300 during any playoff run/post season totals... and i certainly dont remember him having any impact during the world series game.... and because of that i think it is what held him back from being selected on his first try.
Like i said he will get in... but, for me, to get in on first try you have to be great on the big stage too.... or maybe set a new record for hits, SB, HR, 3B or 2B. He did none of that.
Neither did Bagwell..... in fact i would be surprised if Bagwell had more than 4 HR in all his combined post season play.
Not only does he have the numbers that should've made him a first ballot lock, but he accumulated them without bringing the game into disrepute (a light in the darkness of the PED era), and he played the game the way it should be... A purist's dream.
The BBWA should be ashamed... I'd have thought they would've been more inclined to elect a player such as Biggio all things considered. SMH
