As we all know, this next month is going to be a huge month from multiple aspects. We have a couple of big recruits we need to land, a big game with OU that will propel us into next year, and we have some big juniors we need to hold onto. For those of you who dont know, agents are allowed to talk to our juniors, and will be doing so this week. This is the only week they can talk to underclassmen so it is a big week as far as that goes. We really wont know anything is final until after we play OU, but here is my opinion on Luke and Jake.
As far as Luke, I really dont know what else he has to play for. When you think about juniors who stay for their senior season just to win a championship, you usually see guys who lose draft stock. Look at Barkley and USC. Preseason favorites to win it all and grab the Heisman and now there is question if he is even the best QB available. Luke has won the Outland, which is every lineman's dream, what other award can he stay for? Does he really need to stay another year to complete his degree? My answer is no. With the amount of money he will make he wont ever need to have a real job in the real world. So if i were Luke, I would finish off my career with a win vs OU, declare for the draft, and go make some real money playing the game you love to play.
Now onto Jake. Jake hasn't won any prestigious awards like Luke, but he is still projected to be a 1st round pick. That is hard for anyone to pass up but of all three he has the most room to grow. He has a chance to come back, possibly be the LT for the best offense in America, make his own bid for the Outland, and play another year with his younger brother Mike. So if i were Jake i would definitely come back and see what shakes out.
As far as Demontre goes it would be hard for me to stay. He has had an outstanding year but i think he needs to look at the young DE from around the country that are soph that could possibly declare next year and maybe knock him down a couple of draft spots. Clowney from USC specifically. Yes Demonster is a beast but Clowney is a freak. If i were Demontre or Luke i would be declaring come January 5th.
But from what i have heard, all 3 are heavily considering coming back to play for the natty next year. Although it may not be what we all want as fans, it is hard for any college athlete to turn down maing millions compared to making $900 a month and possibly competing for the national championship. Either way it goes there will always be what ifs, but i hope our big 3 will make the best decision for themselves and I wish them the best of luck either way.
Hope this helps out a little bit and feel free to express your opinion. Should be interesting none-the-less.

My money is on Matthews coming back. If Joeckel or Moore want to stay, the more the merrier! I just wish the best for them in whatever decision they make. All 3 will end up being terriffic additions to the NFL when that time comes.
Your will to win will define you tomorrow.
I think the fact that they are struggling to make these decisions speaks volumes for where our football program is right now. If you had asked Luke and DM last year if they would be struggling with their decision if they were projected as top 5-10 NFL prospects, they would have laughed. No decision to be made. Maybe I'm wrong.
Well said. As a fan I obviously want all three to come back. But, considering their situation it's much harder to see why they would. I think the idea of winning a MNC is something they all want to do and believe this year is their shot to do it. It's a once in a life time opportunity. I agree with you on Luke. If any of them should leave it's him. Jake can move further up draft boards with one more year here, plus play a year with his little bro. Moore, I think wants to stay because he felt snuffed by the awards this year. He deserved to at least be a finalist for some of them and he wasn't. He is, IMO, the most important if the three for us. We don't have anyone like him on the roster if he leaves. Whatever they decide, we as Aggies will thank them and wish them the best. They've played as well as we could have asked from them and helped make us immediately relevant in the SEC. If it's their time to get out and make a living for themselves, then we will be their biggest supporters. Unless they get picked up by the Falcons. Or the Patriots. Then we can still be their fans.
Great insight Lee. Invaluable perspective on what these guys are going through. I clean up the paragraphs for you.

I did not know about agent contact period.
For all the research, thinking, and analyzing that we do as layman fans, there's no substitute for hearing some of the nitty-gritty real details from guys like Lee.
Good stuff man, thanks for sharing. As a fellow Big Country boy, loved your contributions and your giving heart and soul to this school.
What is the $ difference between 5 and say 15? Even if they drop, is it that much? And at the same time, they go to a better team.
With the new cap, I don't know. Used to be about 40 mil guaranteed difference.
Lee I respect your opinion but I don't believe it is a fair comparison between QB barkley & OLT L.Joeckel. I prefer OLT B.Jones last years Outland Trophy winner moved to a new position this season C where he made 1st team All-American & is now poised to win another Nat Champ. Talk about coming back with nothing else to prove. Nothing else that is except to give bama back something for all bama has given him. A bit refreshing actually. Luke should & probably will come back for pretty much the same reasons B.Jones did.
