I know after 2 games it is hard because the body of work is not there yet. In my opinion there are some that that are really standing out already.
1a. Is Terry Price: He took over a position that most of us were worried about coming in to the season and it looks to be a strength of the defense.
1b. Larry Jackson: This teams looks better than I have seen in a really long time. His offseason workouts can't be over looked
2. Mark Synder: His game plans in the first two games have been good and he is doing a great job with the athletes we have and putting them in the best position to be successful.
3.Marcel Yates: The secondary looks to be improved as a whole, tackling from week 1 to 2 was much better.
4. David Beaty: Either from his recuriting and the vast improvement of the reciever core. I'm a big fan of his work so far.
"Courage is being Scared to death but Saddling up anyways"
Hard to actually rank them, but I do think its interesting that the coaches he sought out and hired from other programs are GREATLY out-producing the tag-a-longs he brought with him (absent Larry Jackson).
I know its hard to rank them after 2 games but it has been interesting to see who has been the most successful in a short amount of time. I think Kingsburry is right up there too but I tried to keep the list to 5. The offense does have some of the explosion that we are used to seeing in when he was a Tech and at UofH, it will be interesting to watch to see how it evolves. He is knocked down cause we have to get more of a push running the football more consistantly.
No mention of Anderson?
...who the heck seriously knows except God, and Sumlin. ~ Aggiemom6
Anderson needs to be let go. Terrible position coach, IMO.
I was trying to keep to positives. Cause Terry Price and Larry Jackson need to be given some props for the job they have been doing.
Has he even pulled in any recruits?
LB play has been very solid but with 3 upperclassman that was expected. We probably won't know much about Wally until next season.
Agree to a certain extent. We're running a 4-3 instead of a 3-4 now and he's done a magnificent job of getting the LB to run it effectively.
Agree the LBs have looked good, considering the scheme change.
The defensive coaches look like awesome hires so far, especially Price. I was worried he was only being hired because of his A&M playing days. I was wrong.
Jackson is a beast.
Beaty looks good so far. Kingsbury and McKinney - need more evidence. Anderson is a fail so far.
Question to yall about Anderson. Did we all have too high of expectations for that position and thats why we are so highly critical of his performace so far this year? Yall have to remember they are going through a scheme change as well and in pass blocking they look good, but last year we ran a zone blocking running attack. (Don't get me wrong I think he has been a bust so far with the group that was in place as well)
Disagree on pass blocking. Johnny Football's athletic ability is making them look better than they've actually been.
Plus, they've had a ton of uncharacteristic penalties.
Jackson has been a huge help with strength and conditioning. Have we had any injuries?
1. Anderson: Oline hasn't looked as strong as we all would like to see espcially considering the returning group we had.
Maybe?: Mckinney: Since we haven't seen a whole lot from the running backs yet.
The underwhelming performers thus far have been the running backs and o-line. Who is to blame?
Running out the Shotgun makes our Oline look shitty.
Great points. How much is it JFF?
Is it the coaches, player, or the scheme?
Was talking about this during the smu game, couldn't recall a single cramp or injury timeout attributed to the Ags since the season started. Meanwhile Florida and Smu both cramped up and Benjamin Malena single handidly knocked out one of Florida's linebackers.
Your logic is boggling my mind
Malena also flattened a smu DB.
