On our board, our mod - Bobby mentioned that Alabama is going to be looking for a new OL coach. The current Alabama OL coach looks like he is headed to the Eagles. Interesting if true.
He also seems to think Searles would get a call from Saban so you may want to buy an early ticket for a melt down if that happens as that would be an easy decision in my mind. Plus Searles worked for Saban at LSU.

Hookem for Life!
will mack fire Searles if he interviews? He's playing hardball now you know.
I wish this made me think there's a better chance for us against Bama.
Losing their DC/OL coach has to mean something, right?
“Honestly [tu's offer] doesn’t really matter though because I won’t go there. I won’t even visit." “I want to play big time ball in the SEC"
You would think he has to in order to keep the perception that he is playing hardball and is serious.
Perception over results is current Elite UT program model except for (gulp...) Swimming, Volleyball, and Golf. (gulp...) - yes that is what we are known for now.

You guys already beat them why are you worried especially since you got them at home this fall?
Searles does a good a job with talent. he just now filled the cupboards for us and can actually coach proper talent with some depth. the first spring he had here we only had 6-7 OL for spring practice.
Is Searles really that good? Did you guys just suck up front last year? Seemed like y'all had plenty of talent up front and just didn't see much offensive production.
We all fondly remember the OU game.
Win we shall, yes we can, yes we will.
McWhoter missed on everybody so Searles only had 6-7 guys for spring practice. when your starting C can't handle an undersized DT head up from OU then you're not very good. Searles worked for Saban at LSU so he has some credibility.
I will give a little on your point and the most consistent point of a Mack Brown under performing team. Mack has waisted talent all over. The 07,08, 09 OL classes were terrible evaluations outside of rankings. Searles couldn't waist the talent that was not there. McWhorter recruited smaller guys 6'5" 270 lbs and tried to grow them while Searles has gone bigger - 6'5" 300 lbs plus to start.
Sherman and Baylor kicked our ass on the OL evals. We did not have one hit on those classes. Searles will get a chance to prove his coaching ability this year because these are his guys now. He recruited them and have trained them. watch the Ole Miss game and that will tell you how good of a coach Searles is.
who do you think Mack and Major look to as replacements?
I remember when the horns got Searels the Georgia fans were not that upset. They would call in to the Bill King show and complain that he didn't develop their talent. Sounded just like horn fans sounded with McWhorter.
To each his own...They have different levels of expectations for their OL than we obviously do. The SEC OL is more important than Bid 12 OL as you know. Georgia (Richt) is as underachieving as Texas (Mack) is except Richt has not won a NC.
Searles is great upgrade from McWhorter solely from a change perspective and we will see this year how his recruiting and coaching is.
I always liked Wickline from OSU so hopefully him. No chance, but I would try and hire Sherman or pay him a retainer to help us evaluate OL prospects. Dude was money.
Who knows, still early and Saban will probably hire somebody better.
Wickline is a hell of a recruiter, too. I would have wanted him at A&M.
Sherman, that's rich.
Wickline is also pretty far fetched IMO.
McWhorter didn't miss to much according to Spongebob and Lil Leach
Kids just are not being developed for whatever reason at UTA. Thier OL recruits have been all world. Heck, that really goes across the board. Vince was a once in a lifetime player-nobody was going to mess him up.
At least you can say "we have strong swimmer" .... That's always a good thing.
You guys will laugh - Chip Brown says Searles is staying put in Austin. He and Ketch are worthless. Assuming Saban wants Searles, which is debatable.
(As we discussed above, I give Searles 2013 to prove his worth and go from there.) As you can tell, I don't have that many things to look forward to so I am taking what I can get with this team.
I want DeLoss, Mack, and Powers out and for us to some how move to PAC 12 or SEC(Ideally). As a fan, I miss the Thanksgiving game with you guys and I would gladly like to see us getting our ass kicked than not playing it.
We will see.
Three weeks after he was named Eagles head coach, Chip Kelly moved one step closer to completing his coach staff Thursday, hiring Alabama’s
