I dont understand why this is being made into such a big deal?
"I like Bears and if you're going to be a bear, UMMMMM, BE A Grizzley"
What don't you understand?
SEC SEC SEC!!!
Hashtagging the end zones? Special uniforms?
It was the independence Bowl not the Orange Bowl. Our current players were still wetting the bed when this game was played.
They are inducting Jackie into their hall of fame this weekend and I think and since he coached here and the most exciting meeting between the two schools was the snow bowl, its their way of welcoming us into the SEC and possibly cultivating a rivalry. That and both teams have the same colors, etc.
I get a moderate level of excitement, so I'm not trying to sound like Carson, but they're taking this thing to the extreme. It's not like it was the BCS Championship. When you go to their athletics homepage you get a special splash page with special Adidas gear just for this game.
Plus hashtagging the endzones seems really over the top.

I have to agree with this poster. (and with Aubrey) I don't see the big deal. It was a game where MSU was completely excited to be there...and we were kind of disappointed with our season and our bowl. Our defense was suspect that year and it wasn't a big marquee game for us. I think it was for them, I mean obviously it was for them. I guess I am honored that someone we have played 5 times EVER has created a uniform for us. Common sense tells me that we can't both wear the same colors, but I dont know about the whole Snow Bowl reference. It is about as relevant as the 41-7 game in 1912. I dont see us busting out the leather helmets to commemorate our win that day. Let's just whip their A$$ in their little uniforms and go about our business.

If its stupid then at least it's MSU that's making themselves look stupid...either way it gets the game talked about so why not let em at it?
Also if you follow alot of reporters on twitter they will tell you the snowbowl was one of the most memorable games of their life...and again it's not like we are the ones going overboard with it
obviously important enough to post about
The game was certainly epic. I still remember it. And certainly nobody is going to fault them for a little celebrating or anything. It is going to be weird seeing A&M play in home jerseys on the road though.
Are they wearing all white uniforms? What are we wearing? White helmets?
Cool helmet though.
It's gonna suck when they get beat after all this hype.
...who the heck seriously knows except God, and Sumlin. ~ Aggiemom6
Yes, they're in all-whites. I would assume A&M will be in all maroons, but they could just go with the standard home uniform also.
looks like we're going to see A&M's all whites against 'Bama unless they're doing something weird with a home game.
Just trying to generate some discussion related to the game. Aubrey is killing the board with his Star Wars and Halloween threads.
I'm dressing tonight as Darth Vader at the #Snowbowl
It's really not that big of a deal for the fans. I think they are using this to try to hype up the game and draw interest to it. They may also be trying to begin a little rivalry between the teams, which might not be so bad. I have always liked aTm. I hope y'all continue to have a good year(after Sat:))

But seriously. They view us a rivalry game guys. Them hashtagging their endzone and wearing all white jerseys to commemorate beating us is exactly why we joined the SEC.
If you think any of this is even a little bit over the top then you are not ready for the SEC and you are a longhorn fan.
I understand commemorating the snow bowl. And I get the all-whites. Hash tagging the end zone is very stupid
best impression of sec ag?
For a few reasons:
1) Obviously it was the last time we met. And it was a damn good bowl. May not have been a higher tiered bowl, but the game still makes a lot of people's top bowl game lists. It was an exciting game that was also extra memorable because of all the snow.
2) Our athletic department has placed a huge emphasis on brand recognition the past few years. And this is something that will have people talking about MSU. There have already been plenty of tweets and articles on the Yahoo and ESPN sites regarding the special uniforms and #snowbowl endzone. Anything that gets the MSU name out there is a positive in their eyes. We got a lot of recognition for putting #HAILSTATE in our endzone last year. Now several other teams have hashtags on their fields or on their bball court.
3) It sets up a good first conference meeting for two schools that would seem like naturals for a semi-rivalry. Similar schools (AG and Engineering) in the SEC west that even have the same colors*.
*A little off topic but one of the cooler ideas I've heard would be installing a rivalry where the previous year's winner would get to wear maroon jerseys no matter where the game was held. Would set up perfectly since this years colors are determined by what we wore in the snow bowl and it could easily start next year. Of course this is not an idea that came from the athletic department and I'm sure would never happen. Just a cool idea.
The end zone thing is really really stupid. I hope we beat them by 30.
They have no long term football history or accomplishments - and that Bowl win was a big deal to them. Also, if I remember correctly JS was the coach at MSU at the time, and we hadn't started our decade of wandering in the desert quite yet. We were supposed to smoke them.
Also, how often does it snow in Shreveport?
I can't talk. My license plate says H Bowl Ag.
Not gonna lie, I think I speak for most msu fan's when I say the hashtag in the endzone thing is a little much...special unis? I get that b/c the kids love em (see Oregon) but all the other stuff is a little bit over the top if you ask me.
Just be glad your school didn't make t-shirts like Mizzou did when they won their first sec game against the worst team in the league.
