Interesting timing for this - maybe to get Kenny Hill to hard commit?
Given TU's situation at QB, any chance his name comes up there???
Give me a break. Kingsbury passed him over for a guy that won the Heisman as a freshman. That's not a slight against Showers - it's how good Johnny was. Brewer is no where near as good as JFH nor is anyone else in Lubbock right now. Plus, the fact that Showers got some solid playing time in 2nd halves this year should mean he can step right in in KK's system and do well. Seems the most natural fit other than Baylor.
Interesting timing but we all knew this was coming

Breaking news...Kenny Hill has delayed his final final decision until after Jameil Showers announces where he plans to transfer.
Anyone know if Matt Joeckel would be on track to graduate early too? Heck, if he were to leave, I could see Hill not being red shirted at all and competing with Davis for 1st string backup this fall.
If Joeckel stays (and I haven't heard anything about him leaving), any chance he becomes primary backup or think it's a given Davis passes him as the 2nd string quarterback?
Showers will be a great QB somewhere. He always took time when my kids and I saw him at Laynes after games to say hi and is a class act. I know we could win with him but I wish him nothing but the best. Just don't go to Austin.
It'll be interesting to see if he announces WHERE he will go before NSD. If not, then there is the risk he could end up at both Tech and Baylor which I think could kill them both as far as Hill is concerned for playing time. If he announces where he will go first, that will probably eliminate that school for Hill but not the other as an A&M alternative.
Showers is smart enough to not kill his career by going there IMO.
He was one of the most popular players in the locker room Loved by all the guys and sold on A&M and its traditions. So I hate to see him go. But he wants to play ball and He Can so I wish him the best as he has a cannon for an arm. Anywhere but Tech Please God anywhere but Tech. And Yes Sonny would do a great job with him!
And from a timing standpoint it might be a blessing as it might move Hill over the edge in our direction. I'm betting Showers had that in mind as that is the kind of guy he is!
I'm sure showers understands the decision to start the eventual heisman trophy winner over him.

He has to sit out a year doesn't he?

Posted earlier on the thread, he graduates this summer so he could play for Tech, Baylor, Cal, etc, in the fall.

Good for him. He's a class act, will have his A&M degree and be an Aggie for life. Plus, he'll get the opportunity to showcase his talent and make it to the NFL.
I personally think the smartest school for him to go to would be 0u. Landry Jones will be gone & I don't really think Stoops has much confidence in the Belldozer's arm. If he finishes his degree by the end of summer, I could see him competing for the start @ 0u. I could also see him competing @ Arkie but doubt that move.

Lazy hands make for poverty,
but diligent hands bring wealth.
Thanks. Hate to see him go.
