New shows on FX and Fox started last couple of weeks, anybody watching either of these?
So far I think The Following has serious potential, I think The Americans pilot was pretty good.

The Americans was great. Really looking forward to seeing how the plot plays out.
Win we shall, yes we can, yes we will.
Really enjoyed the Americans. Grew up in that time period. Reagan was a real bad ass and had the Ruskies shitting bricks.
Following is really good so far. Need to catch up on The Americans. Previews showed potential.
I'm hooked on The Following. It's so intense.
I mean... it's got an alcoholic Kevin Bacon, it has to be awesome. I'm not sure that the show isn't just Kevin Bacon basically playing himself and just ad-libbing lines.
I'm trying both out. Much more optimistic about the Americans.
Following has been interesting so far though.

following is going to be the next big thing on FOX. No doubter there. Americans. Too soon but there is some good lineage there on that channel so it likely will be good as well. good potential story line.
Following is just one death after another jeez.
Remembered to record the series The Americans, and I never remember that shit. Thought the pilot was good, but I don't like the idea of them teasing defection this early in the show. That's a show 3 type teaser. I'm worried it's going to go the pussy route, honestly.
Are you kidding? I could hear that arrow a mile away.
What route would that be?
I liked the Americans
Both looked cool - had a hard time getting into The Americans but I also started 15-20 min in and was distracted....want to give both a shot.
Agreed- I have a lot more confidence in FX's ability to select shows and to give those shows a chance to make it, whereas shows like "The Following" usually have to hit hard and over the top to gain enough of a following to justify a 2nd season.
So far that seems to be how it is playing out. The Americans looks like it has a lot better shot to develop a cohesive plot and do actual character development, whereas The Following is much more transparent and aiming for the "mole of the day" approach (anyone could be the bad guy, etc.). It's had its moments though.
Yeah, the following is like a serial killer version of 24 with Bacon as Bauer. Literally anyone else could eventually be a bad guy.
Thought the exact same thing.
The head writer of The Following has acknowledged he was a huge fan of 24.
I was too but not sure that setup works great in this genre.
