Adeboyeo's comments got me to thinking about this question. The guy I always wish we would've kept on board was Ty Slanina. He was the perfect replacement for Swope.
This is an updated highlight I made on one of the top overall ATHs in the entire state Ty Slanina from East Bernard, Texas. Last year was a breakout year for Ty as he contributed on both sides of the ball for the Brahmas, leading to offers from Texas Tech and Texas A&M. This year might have been the most impressive of Slanina's high school career. During the pre-season, Ty tore his labrum and seperated his right shoulder multiple times during his junior year. Despite the injury and pain, Slanina did not miss a game and led the Brahmas to a district championship and earned Offensive MVP honors. The defending 2A long jump state champion, Slanina is also an outstanding baseball player and will play both sports at the next level. One of the best, fastest, and toughest overall athletes in the state for 2013.
I'm not going to lose any sleep about Quincy or Ty. We obviously recruited Quincy - he ditched us.
I'm not an expert by any means, but wondered why we never went after Billings.

Tyrone Swoopes.. Will be an excellent tight end prospect.
Because he's to fly for a white guy.

he is a beast, but we would need him to rs. i doubt he is willing to do that. another nfl player. the dancing bear. damn.
I would think that a kid would have to go to a school that plays us... So, if Quincy ends up at Ole Miss then I would say it's him... With that said we will have to wait and see....
Yeah that's a good point. When was the last time a white guy did something even remotely notable in college football?
It's all dependent on the position...Liucci

Fair enough. What about WR.
Texas AM senior Ryan Swope is the school's new all-time leading receiver following his 11 catches for 111 yards on Saturday against Alabama. Sumlin still has three games to break the record: at home against Sam Houston State and Missouri, and in a bowl game.
Is this really what you think about??
Good grief, dude.
Cameron Hampton, the 4-star linebacker from the 2014 class really wants to commits to the good guys, but our coaches told him to wait. Now he's getting offers from Texas and others, and his high school coach is telling him he'll likely not end up at A&M so he better move on and accept some other school's offer.
If we don't land Zach Whitley or whoever the coaches are after instead of Hampton, that might backfire. Also, obviously, whoever we do recruit better turn out to be a stud and more so than the guy we left off.
Guess those are the issues you have to deal with when recruiting gets to be this good... you get to have your picks, but it's not an exact science so you might end up with a dud. Mack Brown knows all about this...
I have heard the issue with Hampton is grades and qualifying, not talent, FWIW.
With limited slots and our need for good LBs I don't think the coaches want to take on a significant grade risk.
