I would assume the season but why would you waste their eligibility anyway for one game?
They have to wait until september.
Wasn't sure if the bowl game would be included as "next year's" eligibility. Hopeful thinking, more than anything else. But you never know if the NCAA has some exception we could exploit. Agree it would be stupid to waste one year in a game.
I think technically speaking they both could be eligible, but you're not going to use a year of eligibility (when they are both basically redshirting because they both played as true freshmen) for one game. I don't know that a football team has ever done it, but the NCAA ruled back a few years ago that it's a calendar year, that's why you see basketball players transfer at mid-term because they retain half-seasons of eligibility.
Jamal Branch, for example, will take the court for St. John's next week.
