I know Coach Sumlin will take his time to evaluate but all I can say is I really thought Coach McKinney kept ou on there toes with his play calling and would really like to see him get the position
I liked the playcalling in the Cotton Bowl a lot, but OU isn't necessarily a top notch defense. I don't know how he would do making adjustments against the LSUs and Bamas, and he relied a lot on the QB run. That being said, whatever Sumlin does I support. I'm more interested in the Special Teams Coach hire. Good spot for a big time recruiter on staff.
Promote McKinney to OC. Promote Beaty to passing game coordinator. Hire Luper. Promote Bryan Thomas to LB coach when/if Wally leaves. Go find the best recruiter out there and make him your ST coach.

True,ou was sure to be exploited as weak as they were in stopping the run. i'm so anxious for 2013
to me, he showed he could adjust by going to the QB run and then mixing in the option, played against ou's weakness then exploited them when they couldnt adjust
Your logic is boggling my mind
How does going from 14-13 at the half to 41-13 at the end not show offensive adjustments? He came out in the second half and played the sooners perfectly...give him the job
Taylor: can Beaty coach qbs or do you think we are looking for a qb coach? This is all assuming McKinny becomes OC...and rightfully so.
I agree that he used to QB run well against OU. I'm just saying that I would like to see us transition away from that as we have several more than capable RBs, and if Showers leaves, a lack of proven depth at the QB position. Preserving Johnny going forward should be more of priority. McKinney called a great game, but it was only one game against a pretty average to poor defense.
BTA - He did make good adjustments, but like I said making adjustments against OU's defense and Mike Stoops is quite a bit different from LSU/John Chavis and Bama/Smart, Saban. OU really didn't have the athletes to match up with our skill positions and still contain Johnny. Other teams will.

Lazy hands make for poverty,
but diligent hands bring wealth.
IMO, Sumlin has never shown anything but trust in McKinney, and McKinney came through perfectly. Probably just waiting on the process for pay raises for Sumlin plus staff. Plus dealing with recruits.
