In case you haven't been paying attention, our Congress just contravened the 5th Amendment's right to due process via passage of the New Defense Authorization Act. This fact is not even contested along partisan lines. Slightly more arguable is whether the Patriot Act (and its TSA bastard child) contravenes the 4th Amendment protection from unlawful search and seizure. Add proposed legislation at the state level (Washington proposing to allow the local sheriff to inspect a gun owners home annually w/o warrant; New York State proposing gun owners carry a $1MM liability policy on their gun, with a $1600-2000 annual premium) and you have evidence for an unprecedented assault on America's Constitutional foundation.Separately, US non-military domestic government agencies are in process of acquiring a MASSIVE amount of ammunition (and battle rifles). We're talking about >1.6 BILLION rounds to the Department of Homeland Security. Obama has declared he wants to create a non-military defense force equal in size to our US military (perhaps employing folks who swore an oath to the Constitution would not be appropriate). Why these agencies, including the Social Security Administration are buying so much guns'n'ammo now raises interesting questions.
Separately, our government is printing $80 billion dollars of fiat currency every month, which comes within 20% of covering the annual fiscal deficits the US has been running for each of the past 4 years. This is unsustainable, and at some future point, hyperinflation will occur without increasing US fiscal responsibility. The related instability, to which foreign currency wars will likely contribute, could prove difficult to control.........................

I hold a bachelors from Texas A&M in Environmental Deisgn, Architcture. I have my MBA from the University of Alabama. I have my Masters of Science in Engineering, Environmental from Louisiana State University. I am the youngest healthcare director in the state in a hospital of at least 200 beds... So I would shut the fuck up about who is illiterate or not.
I understand a man's rights but that doesn't change the fact that man sometimes is misguided and overall plain stupid... Thus in majority a gun of that magnitude should not be allowed (in most cases).
I own multiple firearms myself, but I can proudly say none of them go above and beyond what I need to protect my wife and to hunt. Nothing more, nothing less.
I own a fuel efficient car, a diesel TDi, because common sense tells me that not only can I save money but I am using way less fuel than the average driver.
I own a 1500sf home because common sense tells me that my wife and I don't require anymore space or it would be a waste (utilities, money, and time).
It's simple tactics of risk assessment.
I am so sorry that I have different views than what seems like every single one of you on this fucking board, but you know what, I am proud of that. I am not a blinded, southern, right-winged man - I choose to open my eyes and evolve. It's 2013, not 1913.
Just so you know, before someone thinks they are so awesome and bring it up... I did NOT vote for Obama and in fact, I have never voted democrat. Since the day I could vote - I vote straight ticket red. So fuck off with any of those comments.

What exactly is so "misguided" about them, Gary? Seriously? Do you think semi-auto shotguns should be illegal? How about semi-auto .22lr? Your typical, garden variety glock, beretta, sig sauer 9mm, 45, or 40 cal pistols?
AR15s just look wicked. They're not even that powerful. And the number of murders committed with pistols, knives, and hammers (yes, the kind you have in your garage) massively outnumbers those committed with assault rifles.

If you're punching a straight ticket, I'd say you're part of the problem & that you're partially blinded in fact.
I like your idea's of driving a fuel efficient car, and owning a small house, those are conservative idea's, you seem to have 'liberal' 'progressive' 'communist' ideas about the sorts of guns someone should own.
You definitely have an interesting palate

This will be my only political post and I'm only posting it because you attacked me. Since you made a judgment of me simply off something I purchased, I'll make a more educated one on you (albeit still not very) because you posted a lot of information about yourself.
The people that scare/sadden me the most in this country are the ones like Gary: the extremely educated, well-off people who just don't understand what our government is doing or what they have the capability to do in the future, no matter who the president is. Read a history book; democracies eventually fail. The government eventually wants too much power and the people realize they can vote themselves benefits. I can understand the ignorant people voting for handouts and how they are blind to what our government will eventually do-- there are a lot of flat out stupid people in the world. But the intelligent, contributing members like Gary who have no problem with the government infringing on our constitutional rights, can't understand that revolution is inevitable, and can't see the warning signs are the most ignorant/dangerous people of all. And before you think me a doomsday prepper, I'm not saying this will happen soon. It could happen in 1 year or 1000, but it will happen eventually
And how hypocritical is it that Gary calls us out for being wasteful, yet spends time and money on a recruiting board?

I believe people should have the right to own guns but man has proven (in general) they are not responsible enough for some things. Like I said, I own multiple firearms and I will protect my right to own them at the fullest but owning something that doesn't hold value or overall benefit me in any way other than looking cool... What's the point?

You got me, I must be dumb. I have been White Deer hunting multiple times and I have never seen anyone truly need that type of rifle.
By the way, I stated my credentials because illiteracy is a direct insult on my intelligence. I never called anyone stupid, I said "just stupid"... Meaning I think the gun is - not you or you or even you. Maybe I should have but I didn't.

The OP specifically asked for this not to be a argumentative posts over ARs, yet you still weighed in.
So, yes, you're a dumbass. Don't like them? Simply stay out of the conversation.
Everybody wins.

I'm curious what you by "man has proven (in general) they are not responsible enough for some things." The overwhelming majority of gun owners will never commit a crime with them. You need to stop putting so much faith in the government to do the right thing and more in your fellow man. You'll always have evil and sick men in this world set on doing people harm but the solution is not to punish people who have done nothing wrong.

I love the Magpul stuff. I'll probably get a Magpul fore grip too. I'm debating between angled and vertical, but I'm leaning towards angled because I've heard it feels more natural. I'll probably save up for awhile and get something nice for the optics like eotech. Anyone have any advice on accessories?
