Eotech is the best of the best. That is what my dad has on his and also my uncle. But since I'm a college student i cant justify spending $300-$500 on a sight. But if you can they are simply the best.

I have an Eotech and love it.

You got me, I must be dumb. I have been White Deer hunting multiple times and I have never seen anyone truly need that type of rifle.

By the way, I stated my credentials because illiteracy is a direct insult on my intelligence. I never called anyone stupid, I said "just stupid"... Meaning I think the gun is - not you or you or even you. Maybe I should have but I didn't.

You miss-interpreted my deer hunting comment.

You are correct that gun owners themselves may not commit the crimes, but in most documented cases (especially in the kids and teenagers) these deaths and crimes occur due to procurement through the gun owner, rather it be stolen or just found.

I have the right to smoke cigarettes but it doesn't mean it's the smart thing for me to do. Man sometimes is not responsible enough to know what is best for society rather than simply themselves.

I don't know where any of you think I believe in or support anything from our current government/president (other than gay rights maybe)... I believe you have the right to own the gun but it doesn't change the fact that maybe you just shouldn't.

I see where you're coming from but I don't think cigarettes and firearms make for a very good comparison. Firearms have the ability so save a life as much as they do to commit evil.

When I was referring to you supporting government I was talking about police and military being able to have them but not the ordinary citizen. Someone else posted on here about non military government agencies that are stockpiling arms and weapons. That is incredibly threatening to us and if we allow them to disarm us there will be even less for us to do about it than there already is.

I am a very responsible gun owner so don't tell me what I should and shouldn't do. I have a semi automatic rifle with high capacity magazines. It is pretty old however and doesn't look as threatening so you can't find it on any of the government lists! In addition to it being awesome to shoot, I hunt around the border a lot and I always like to have it in the blind with me. I've never needed to use it and hopefully I don't ever have to but if it ever comes down to me and a coyote or drug runners I wanna be as prepared as possible.

"Please keep the politics for another thread, this one's for gun lovers."

Here's the original request, in case it wasn't clear enough for you.

I never brought up politics until someone else did... Plus I like guns... What's your point?

So you were interpreting his polite request as, "if you like guns, but want to bash ARS, let's do that!"?

Remind me again that you're not dumb?

Aimpoint is considered better by some. Just preference, I guess.

  • I expect the wait time on the PredaOBR to be ~18 months. I just joined the queue. I have backup plans in the event my demand for a battle rifle increases between now and then.

GaryRizz apparently works as an administrative director at a 200-bed hospital. I will bet this institution is not for-profit, and relies on Medicare (government) reimbursement to make its payroll and keep the lights on. Gary has in fact chosen to rely on the government to make his living. His views expressed in relation to owning an AR make sense in light of his choice. It would very courageous (perhaps a bridge too far) for Gary to confront a scenario in which the government was not there for him and his family, perhaps even, to the extent where government agents sought to confiscate his guns and/or to pack his family off to a special camp in the name of 'public safety.'

To address his point about 'not seeing a situation in which an AR is needed,' I will use a hunting analogy. To bring down big game, you need a high powered rifle. In an anarchy situation, you must be prepared to kill people efficiently. The AR fits this bill, takes down deer and hog out to 400 meters, and is portable if you and your family have to move fast and hard (BTW, this would be a last resort for my family, I'm turning my house into Fort Apache). Also, Gary, why does the DHS require 1.6 billion rounds of battle rifle ammunition? What threat are they preparing to confront? Doesn't this non-military domestic-focused government agency weapons and ammo stockpile bother you given your expressed drive for everyone to focus on life and being productive?

I would urge all Americans, including Gary to become less reliant on government for necessities; our Federal government is certainly pursuing a reckless and unsustainable fiscal and monetary policy. Better to struggle in freedom than serve in slavery. I feel it is appropriate to plan for a scenario where currency is worthless, barter is common, buying food at a grocery store is impossible, and electricity is no longer readily available.

So what if the cumulative 5-year probability of this scenario is 0.0025? The consequences of this potential outcome are so dramatic that every responsible American family should consider some contingency planning.

Keep wondering where this idea that I am a government man, where did this come from?

  • Gary, your salary gets paid by an organization (hospital) that is reliant on the government for funding.
Every action in that hospital is heavily influenced by government-issued best practices.
Without Medicare, Gary, you have no job.

    And thanks for instigating that.

Seriously, if you own guns and respect others' rights to own guns, why bitch at someone for owning a different gun than what you own? You just sound like an asshole trying to start shit.
