Hate these threads. Why can't we just expect to have an outstanding athletic program insteading "having a choice" of which sport will excel? No offense, shermanager, but that's a small-minded mentality.

And it's not small minded. We're spending all our money on the little sports, just like catorano said. As long as we continue to do that, we will continue to have our basketball coaches stolen by maryland. If we'd spend money to have a good football program, we'd make enough money to spend on everything else.

You own a restaurant. Your wife paints and it's all she really wants to do but you don't make any money off of it so you sell them at the restaurant. If you spend all your money on her paintings, your restaurant will fail. If you spend most of your money making your restaurant the best it can be, your restaurant flourishes. Then you can spend more money on her paintings

He's probably right, that was a stupid post by me. I bet the ROR on basketball is close to, or more than, football. But the amount is nowhere close. And basketball would level off at a point very quickly. A donor could give a billion dollars to make us the best basketball team, but people would still be unsatisfied, waiting for football to be good

Stop stating the obvious. Basketball & Football need more money. We all know this.

Probably so, but basketball doesn't build the school's brand or drive school-branded product sales like football. I'm sure it isn't even close.

That's not the issue. Of course we want to win at everything. But if it's at the expense of football, then it's not worth it

It's not the issue man. I've said over and over that I want us to be good at everything. But we spend more on all the minor sports than everyone else. We have a minor football budget compared to everyone else. Minor sports don't get you t-shirt followers. Walmart fans don't know anything about whether texas has a good track team or not, or how good their golf team is

tu doesnt get tshirt money from bball or baseball. They dont get tshirt money from Roger Clemens, kevin durant, tj ford, etc. they get money from VY, Ricky, Cedric Benson, Derrick Johnson, Brian Orakpo, Mack Brown, etc.

A&M will never be a basketball school no matter how good we are. We will never get the money back to justify investing that much money in the sport. Even when we were goid the students barely came. Same with baseball. More people were more excited for a fucking scrimmage than a top 10 baseball matchup
