Ha...Sumlin slaps back Hocutt at Tech

Speaking of recruiting, Hocutt said A&M's split for the SEC will benefit the state's Big 12 schools.
“There's so much talent in Texas, and young people grow up wanting to play in the state,” Hocutt said. “You want to play where your family can drive to watch your games, and you want to play against those programs you were familiar with while growing up. From a recruiting standpoint, there are going to be some consequences.
“With the Aggies' competitive focus shifted to the Southeast, there's going to be an inherent advantage for Texas Tech and other members of the Big 12 Conference.”
While the Aggies will be the SEC's lone school from this state, College Station isn't going anywhere, of course, and Sumlin bristled at the idea Hocutt was offering such an opinion from Lubbock in West Texas.
“He's the wrong person to talk to about that,” Sumlin said. “He's in the proximity of UTEP and Arizona State. Just because you're in the state doesn't mean you're in the proximity of the other league schools. This is a large state.”
And one where discussion is likely to linger about whether A&M will play UT, Baylor and Tech again.

by proximity Sumlin meant academic level and noteriety, and i guess kids arent growing up watching Alabama, LSU, Florida, etc.... from the SEC win nattys while the big 12 schools have b!tch fights, laughable opinion
Also like to add that not only does the current state of recruiting amongst the region not support his opinion, it completely contradicts it

A&M, Texas, BU and TCU are all recruiting much better right now than TT. They're competing with SMU and Houston for the 5th best class in Texas. TT will be the new old Baylor within 2 years at this rate. TCU and Baylor both have better coaching staffs, better education, soon to be better facilities and better location than tech. They're really screwed.
