Hey guys just wanted to introduce myself and let you know i will be chiming in from time to time and open to any questions you guys might have about anything. I am Lee Grimes and i played from 2005-2009 if you dont remember. Played under Fran and Sherman. Im currently in Lubbock, TX coaching high school ball but dont plan on being here very long. I am currently looking for a college GA job so we will see what happens with that. I am married to the former Kristen Schevikhoven, who played volleyball at A&M, and have been for about a year and a half. I want to give Taylor a shoutout for letting me get on here and help out a little bit. He has done a great job with gigem247 and im happy to be apart of it. If yall have any questions feel free to PM me or create a thread on here and i will respond ASAP.
Welcome aboard Lee. Congrats on the wedding. Sorry about Lubbock.
Welcome to The Junction Aggie Lee!
Oh this is awesome. Welcome Lee!
So how much of an insufferable chode was Fran? Please don't hold back.
Badass Lee! Are you missing any body parts yet? I know you went through hell with injuries. Glad your here!
Also, how many fights did you get in at A&M? bc you always looked like a pretty mean dude.
haha i will not go into that one. But i will say if he didnt get fired in 07 i was transferring out. I will leave it at that
Glad you are here Lee! Always admired the way you fought through injuries all the time.
Good stuff! Sherman was a great guy, just not cut out for the college game, IMO.
Fran was terrible in all aspects. Both as a college coach and a human being.
I played intramural ball with Mike Shumard and Matt Featherston. Good Ags as were most of y'all having to suffer through the Fran years.
they are all still intact. Feel like crap when i wake up in the morning every now and then but im good. Wouldnt trade my time at A&M for anything in the world.
...who the heck seriously knows except God, and Sumlin. ~ Aggiemom6
Ya we loved Sherman but you could tell he wasnt going to be a great college coach....at least now in the big 12-2-2+2. Shu and Featherston are two of my good buddies. we all lived together as soph. 2 of the guys i still keep in contact with weekly.
Welcome aboard Lee! Y'all show No. 74 some love!

Welcome aboard, Lee. What did you think of Helduser?
Helduser and me butted heads alot.....but he helped me grow up so i owe him for that. Other than that i didnt like him one bit to be honest. I also think i shouldve been playing alot earlier but since we butted heads he moved me down the depth chart

to be honest i dont even remember a mike mckenzie
Are you seeing Shu's facebook status right now? Lol, dude got hacked.
Very cool Lee.
What specifics did Sherman do that made him not suited for College? -- Was it a majority of the players that thought this? -- Did the admin not share this belief? -- Reason I am asking is you mentioned it and also this is not the first time we are hearing this. -- in a comment on this, I am wondering why it took so long to see he was not a fit. Granted we did not hear this until he was gone.
Anyway, I appreciate you mingling with us.
For those of y'all who aren't familiar with him, Lee is one of the toughest SOBs to ever wear the maroon and white. Most would have quit football 50 times over if they'd had the same luck as he did with injuries.
Welcome aboard, Lee. Great to have you here.
Hey Lee, I remember watching you play high school ball at Brownwood. You were signed by the Chargers if I remember correctly. Did you ever suit up for them?
If you cant Duct it...Fuck it!
Just the way he interacted with us players in my opinion. He demanded respect which is a key but he didnt interact with us like i think good college coaches should. Like a "players coach". His schemes didnt fit the college game well and he had to change those and i think he did a good job of that but he just ran too much nfl stuff with comeback routes and outs all the time. I personally think college football is the best football because you have so many different things to deal with. In the NFL you know your only going to see 2 defenses and the same base offense so there isnt much adjusting as there is in college, changes have to be made at the college level even at halftime and i didnt think we did a good job of that. But he is a great coach, great man, but just not a college coach i dont think.
Me personally would have loved to play with a QB like Manziel, but i did play for a great on in JJ. As far as Sumlins scheme i think i wouldve fit well inside at G or C, but with all the injuries we had and the lack of tackles fran recruited i was forced to play out of position but did the best i could. I like running the ball more but i think i wouldve done fine in the true spead offense.
I went to Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent and went through their summer workouts, OTAs, and got cut during camp. Then went to San Diego and got to suit up for the New Orleans preseason game but never got to play since i had gotten there 2 days before the game and was cut the following week. I was told by both teams that i could play at that level, and play well, but i was an injury concern so they wouldnt take that chance.
