As a fun way of announcing my departure from GigEm247, I count down the five most memorable days on the site since we launched in August of 2010
As some of you already know, I accepted a position at the Temple Daily Telegram earlier this month and will not be back with 247Sports next year. There are a number of personal and professional reasons that I made the decision that I don’t care to bore you with, but I wanted to thank everyone here on GigEm247 and at 247Sports for the opportunity
they’ve given me the last few years.
I’m extremely proud of what Taylor and I have built with this site, and I’m positive that Taylor and Brian will continue to do an excellent job in the future. It’s easy to forget that when we started this thing back in 2010 that neither Taylor nor myself had ever
been full-time writers before and we didn't know how successful this site would be, but because of you guys, and because of sheer force of will sometimes, we were able to create something that
I’m extremely proud of.
I also want to specifically thank Shannon Terry, Bobby Burton, and Pat Tholey and everyone else at 247Sports for letting us really do this our way under their guidance. They’ve always been there to give us direction or advice if we asked, but we’ve never once been told what we had to (or had not to) write. Without them taking a risk on me when
I was just a part-time writer for AggieYell a few years ago, I wouldn’t have the opportunities that I have now.
I'd also like to thank some people at 247Sports who have become great friends and those that helped me at various times when I needed it whether personally or professionally. In this business there's not a lot of people you can talk to about certain things, and these guys have helped me through a lot. Those include Jeff Howe, Jamie Oakes, Sean Fitz, Justin Hopkins, Zach Osterman and Corey Dowlar (Who's now at ESPN.)
Finally, I want to thank you guys (Yes, even USMCAG, dmo and lmart...) who have helped make Junction such a fun part of my life for the last
few years. I’ve enjoyed getting to know quite a few of you guys both on and off the boards, and I think this community is poised to continue to expand over the next few years. Taylor and I decided early
on that we wanted a site for truly hardcore fans of the game and of Texas A&M, and we wanted a community that we actually felt like we were a part of, and that’s certainly the case.
I can't express enough gratitude for everyone for being a part of this the last few years and I’m excited for you guys with how much better this site is going to continue to get. And don’t worry, they still have internet in Temple so who knows when I might show up on the boards…
Thanks and, as always, Gig ‘Em,
Aubrey Bloom ‘07

So Aubs got the boot to make room for Perroni?
?? More info needed
'Whatcha talkin bout Willis,' tagline taken from Different Strokes by Garry Coleman AKA Arnold.
I understand that basketball is an afterthought for 90% of A&M fans but this site just took a MAJOR hit in terms of hoops content.
Not a fan of this decision.
Sorry about that, OP is fixed now.
I've had the chance to work with Aubrey at both Rivals and 247 and he is going to be missed big-time.

I'll have more commentary later today but I want you all to wish Aubrey the best. This site wouldn't be where it's at today without him. You're my boy Bloom!

As far as the site is concerned, we have some exciting things in the works down the road.
Was this Aubrey's decision or was he given the axe?
Thanks and good luck. Too bad you have to live in Temple, though.
got goosebumps thinking about being at the bama game with the john-ny chants going on in the background.
thanks for your contributions to gigem, aubrey. i hope to see some pro-aggie content coming out of the temple daily telegram in the near future.
Best of luck in Temple.
Wtf? The Aubrey Lyn you should rethink this buddy
If you are leaving cause of someone let me know..I can get Dmos mom to give you some of her tacos and maybe you will rethink you decision or what about getting Aggie Skirt to send you some PM's?
In all seriousness Good luck Aubrey Lyn you will be missed...
Good luck out there Aubrey. Thanks for all the content and insight.
Newspaper is a dying business.
Not sure about this career move but I wish you all the best Aubrey Lynn.
You've been, by far, my favorite mod on any of the Ag sites. (not including Troy "Noodles" Miller)
That sucks Aubrey. You'll be missed.
Not sure whether to upvote the thead to say thank you or downvote the thread to say I'm unhappy with this decision....either way best of luck in the future Aubrey and I still expect basketball commentary (only free with no holds barred!)
We'll miss you here Aubs. Will you still have a sub? Don't be a stranger. Good luck in your future endeavors
