as do I. I really hope we can use the positives that Byrne has left us with and elevate our football while keeping the other sports at a high level as well.

A man who appreciates what our student athletes have done to make this last decades lack of success in football tolerable. Would I trade one of those national championships for more football success, yes.. But I refuse to take away from what our other athletes have achieved. They represent A&M as much as any football player does. To each is own, but I do enjoy watching my aggies compete in every sport.

- I was given the opportunity a few years ago to extend my contract, could have extended it as long as he wanted, asked for two years. Loves his work but was ready to move on.
- The one thing Gates challenged him to do when he hired him was change the culture from hoping to win to expecting to win. Students, coaches and fans now expect to win. That’s the biggest thing they’ve done.
- Thing that he wishes is that they would have won more football games. It’s the sport he knows the most about, last season was a crushing blow. Thought they were so much better, but didn’t win the close ones. Last season “crushed me.” Because they’re better across, the board they’re attracting better talent.
- So proud of what the caoches and athletes have done. Been incredible. Not just head coaches and athletes, it’s an entire process and an entire web of support you need to have. You look back and see all the trophies, there weren’t many of those prior to his arrival, proud of that. Establshed goals and expectations, expect to win more of those.

- Made a tactical error when they moved to Nebraska, wife had to give up career. Allowed her to choose where they were going to retire. Never forgot that, she has a plan. Her plan is to stay in B/CS. Want to watch their grandchildren, and “so many fish out there waiting to be caught.” “Looking forward to retirement, I really am.”
