***Manziel to Speak to the Media at 2***

  • Good questions from Chip Brown actually, Manziel says he's too busy to get caught up reading articles or what people are saying about him. You have to make sure you have other priorities in life.

  • Biggest transition was the speed of the game. Remembers being a sophomore in high school and thinking everyone was the fastest person he's ever seen. Then you run on the field against Florida, it's a big jump from his senior year. The biggest thing he tells high school recruits is that the game is fast. His success is a testament to how good the team is around him, offensive line, running backs, guys around on the defense are incredibly talented.

  • His touchdown against Arkansas was probably his favorite improved play. Didn't really mean to run around in a circle, was trying to get the ball to Mike Evans but ended up just getting a touchdown.

  • Tried to tell himself going into Florida that there's nothing to be nervous about, was just focused on trying to push the tempo and lead the guys and fight until the end.

Chip Brown got a question. Ridiculous

Just saw that he asked the maturing off the field question. Interesting Sip take.

  • Tries to give up an energy on the field. Going to play the next play, the next drive with his heart on his sleeve and play for everybody on the field. Going to fight with his full heart on every play.

  • Being mentioned in the same question as Earl Campbell (Tyler question) is ridiculous, he's one of the greatest to ever play the game.

  • Play against Louisiana Tech was a play that he's kind of pictured before, always pictured trying to get the ball back from a defender. When it actually happened, he couldn't tell if the whistle had been blown so he told himself he wasn't going to let him score. He wanted to strip the second guy to be honest. That's how he plays the game, plays with a lot of heart and will never quit on the team.

  • Wasn't an easy decision to decommit from Oregon but it was the right one. Came to Texas A&M for a great reason, the traditions, Coach Sherman who was there. "Been an absolutely dream come true to be able to be here."

Sounds like a good jab to mention Vince Young being a fvckup off the field.

  • Love the press that this is getting, hearing all the different news sources that are asking the questions.

Whoever gave him the lead for this question and for the Earl Campbell question set him up beautifully for the media to fall in love with him if they haven't already

  • Humbling to see one of the best players in the SEC say that about him (Montgomery) has a ton of respect for him, he wore Lattimore's number on his tape earlier this year.

  • Got know Mariota during the recruiting process. Hasn't talked to him this season, but he's an incredibly gifted athlete and a great quarterback. Excited for the success he's had.

  • Kingsbury is the guy that told him he was the starter, didn't know what he was going to talk about. Remembers sitting down with him and being excited. It was a dream come true to play quarterback at any university but especially at Texas A&M.

  • Season has been incredible surreal. Testament to how the team has grown, individual success wouldn't be anything without the team. Credit goes to the coaching staff and his teammates.

  • Having the ball on the 1 against Ole Miss was the low point but you turn that around by Mike Evans making an incredible play to get you out of a hole.

  • Of course Solomon has the final question.

The thing that caught him off guard is people asking him for autographs and photos and dinner. Friends ask for autographs for family members or whoever.

It hasn't really all sunk in yet. Having kids want to take photos with him, makes his day.

This will be the thread for running updates from Manziel's first time talking to the media.

Here's the link to listen from AggieAthletics.

Damn Bloom, why didn't you get in there and ask a question? With you being from Kerrville, you could have asked a great one.

Would have love him to answer about how hurt he was the first time he found out he had been labeled as a racist. Something along those lines!

  • I listened to most, but not all. Seems like he's pretty sharp. Fielded questions well, didn't step in any traps that I heard.

A couple guys are fishing for something to write about -

Mac Engle in FW asks if TCU offered him. - JF says he thinks very highly of TCU, visited them several times, good things, etc. etc., but they never offered.

Kevin Sherrod asks if he thinks he'd be starting if Sherman was still coach. - JF says he had a great relationship with Sherm and Sherm has been extremely successfull at Miami and it would've been a battle just the same.

Someone else asked if he'd name his favorite 5-10 NCAA QB's - JF said there are just so many, then names a couple (L. Jones, Geno Smith, Braxton Miller) said there are so many others, you can't name 5-10 because there's 20-30

LATimes writer asks if he would have beat out the Oregon QB - JF says it would have been a battle.

Answered all very well, IMO. Didn't concede anything, but also gave everyone else a lot of praise.
