Might as well be death for PSU

  • Brandon Noble, former PSU DT, is live ESPN right now. He is upset at the NCAA, said NCAA was "way off base", that all of this was the action of one man. Still denies any guilt on Joe Paterno.

The PSU players and students do not deserve this. Everyone that was involved is dead, in jail or no longer working there. The school will never be the same.

You're right, the players, students and alumni don't deserve this. But, the school does.

That's the way these things work. If all a school had to do was fire the bad guys to avoid penalties, they would just pick up right where they left off with a new regime.

Par for the course for the Big XII. Amazing ineptitude. Have fun, TCU & WVU.

  • Personally, I think they were far too easy on PSU. This is the worst case of cover up to make money at the expense of boys and young men that has ever been brought to light. I hope big 10 adds to NCAA sanctions.

How much worse can it get? These sanctions will reduce state to a team of walkons, most likely.

They've added at least a 13 mil fine. See link in thread below.

Part of the punishment is to serve as a deterrent to future coaches. As an example, Saban has had tremendous success at Alabama. What if he stays for another 20 years, gaining the sort of power and security that Paterno had? This will serve as warning to universities in the future. If a coach or AD thinks about covering up a crime in the future, maybe this will put some sense into them.

The true test of a man's intelligence is how much he agrees with you.

Exactly- this is no different from an infractions case in that regard, but obviously it is much more egregious substantively.

This is the least of what Penn St. deserves- screw their myopic fans. Welcome to reality "JoePa" worshippers.

  • I don't understand the incredible backlash (and sympathy) for the football players at Penn State... They are still on scholarship, they still get to play college football, they can still develop towards the NFL...

A statement had to be made... the kids can transfer if they don't like it... life isn't always fair

Oh and by the way, I honestly can't stand the Paterno family and their whiny statements, they are as arrogant and ridiculous as their idol JoePa

  • It's not nearly as bad as most of you guys think..

First off, look at USC? They are going to be in the Championship game? how's that working for them?

the reduction in scholarship limits aren't on the total, they are on the initial signing. so they can sign 15? every kid that transfers this year will give them a credit. this is how USC signed 29 or 30 ships 2 years ago. They signed 16 this year and will sign 18 next year because transfers don't count against initial enrollment

they have to go to 65, this will hurt but won't be catostrophic. They will lose some games, but I would rather be Penn St than NWestern and Indiana..

The worst is the scar of being Penn St CHild Molester U.

But by the NCAA not taking away tv and no year suspension (death penalty) they got off much better shape.

the 4 years of no bowls will hurt the next class or two. But by 3rd year, Penn St machine will be recruiting.

It will hurt them on high end competition for 5-6 years

  • Programs are circling like vultures ready to grab any decent players they have. Who are they going to replace them with? A bunch of scrubs and walkons. They are going to be a Sun Belt caliber team for the next ten years.
