Moreys knew move

  • Not sure if I like it. Its like were swapping teams with the magic, If Howard signs long term i say definitely worth it. Could screw our future though.

NBA -- Sources: Houston Rockets reconstruct trade proposal for Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard - ESPN

The Houston Rockets have reconstructed their trade proposal to the Orlando Magic for superstar center Dwight Howard, vowing to take back even more long-term salary from the Magic, according to sources briefed on the trade talks.

  • I'll ignore the title...

This is a stupid move by Morey. I don't get it.

    The two deep would be:

    Aaron Brooks (maybe?), Ish Smith
    J-Rich, ???
Hed (can he even still play SF?), ???
Glen Davis, ??? (We've got 215215 PF's so it depends who goes to ORL)
    DH12, ???

So basically ORL w/ Aaron Brooks.

  • Is there no market for Scola at all? $7M a year is not a big contract and I think he would be an ideal 6th man for a contender.

  • Do you really think that ESPN report is accurate? Come on now.

I don't see Parsons going anywhere.

  • I don't get the hatred here. We haven't done shit for over a decade and have been stuck in mediocrity, it's time to make a ballsy move. This is it.

It's not like the damn Dream Team is being broken up, it's a mediocre hunk of shit that's being blown up.

Also, if we lose out on Asik and Lin (both probable), the Rockets would have 28 million in cap space after next year. Huge money to attract another superstar and a few nice pieces to go with DH12 and said superstar.

I agree with this, because honestly if we don't get shit long term out of this deal at least we will suck and not be stuck in mediocrity, i.e. hopefully a high pick in the draft.

Whereas if we clear the cap room, which I'm hoping Lin & Asik's sheet's both get matched, we would be able to money whip other stars, like Harden, evans or ellis.

And the title is pitiful. Sorry I was distracted because College Station shut off our utilities to fix a pipe without telling us right after we got groceries, I was distracted.

    Hugh:

Just because they have cap space, what makes you think they'll be able to attract a huge superstar? They've done everything possible to lure big-time free agents and NO ONE wants to sign with the 'tine. We have to build through the draft. Renting a stud for one season and losing future picks will only further hurt this franchise. They need to take a dive. If they hit a lottery pick on there own, coupled with the pick from Toronto for Lowry, they could potentially have 2 lottery picks for next year's draft. There is more value in the two picks than trading away your future for one season and hoping you can retain Howard and lure another superstar.

  • It's a risky move. No doubt about it.

But, he's not necessarily a one year rental. He WANTS to go to Brooklyn, but after signing Brook Lopez to a huge contract, Brooklyn isn't going to have room for DH12. Put Hakeem in his ear, give him his money and show him that with all that cap space available, we can bring in another big time FA to go with him.

I'm all for building through the draft. No problem whatsoever with that. Look what OKC has done.

All I'm saying is it's time to put our nuts on the table and do something.

    Hugh Honey

  • Agree with that. One or the other, just do SOMETHING.

  • It pretty clear that he's not to Houston if he's not going to Brooklyn. The Magic want something good for Howard.

The only team that can get this done is the Lakers and only if they think Howard is that much better than Bynum and is the key piece that can get them to the title again.
