Not trying to be a smart arse, but

  • do you guys really believe that the candidates we are looking at for HC are that much better than Sherman? If we had made a couple staff changes for next year such as a OC and a new recruiting guru(Cassidy suks), not sure we would not be better off. Remember, Saben was 6 and 6 his fourth year at Bama. I realize Sherman cost us several games and I was PO'd as anyone, but the list of candidates, at least to me, is under whelming.shrug

    dichotomic

  • WHat you would have been asking SHerman to do is VERY difficult. Basically what is supposed to be his greatest asset(offensive genius), would have needed to be turned over to someone else and that in it's own right would have been a huge risk, assuming he could do that.

I really really liked Sherman the man, but he was NOT getting it done as a football coach. We'll never know if you're right or wrong on Sherm, but we certainly have HUGE expectations for his replacement.

Imho regardless of whether or not they are better, which I think a few might be. They are mean ass recruiters and they have SEC experiemce, that in itself is a plus. Sherm was just not the guy there is no way you slice or dice the situation anymore he.just wasn't going to get it done. He couldn't get it done in the big 12 he wasn't going to get it done in the SEC.

    Just my thoughts

You do know Saban's 6-6 (actually 7-6 since he won his bowl game) year was his first year right at Alabama? The next year he went undefeated in regular season and lost in the SEC champ game to National Champion Gators. In his third year he won it all. Last year he lost a few and then this year he lost one solo game to the amazing LSU Tigers (by three points).

You sir need to check some facts before you start spouting off some random notes. Sherman deserved his fate and its done - so move on already.

again, been saying this from day one.....It happens to the best of coaches.

Saban (maybe), Bobby Bowden another.....but the biggest is Bill Belichick....He couldnt do crap at Cleveland.

Sometimes you have the right coach and it is just about timing and having the right players to put it all together.
Look at Auburn with Cam Newton, Texas with VY, Florida with Tebow....and they all had good Defenses to work with.
Sometimes its having the Defense and offense working on all cylinders.

Look....Sherman worked his aurs off for this program...and sometimes hard work doesnt payoff when you want it to....but it always pays off.

I think you mean Michigan State.

Be that as it may, the biggest difference is that Sherman simply wasn't aggressive enough in play calling, recruiting or benching players to be successful in the SEC.

Recruiting?!? are you serious!! Have you seen the class A&M was going to be bringing in next year.... And he was aggressive enough to know what his players can and cant do......You obviously remember the few times Sherman didnt go for it on 4th but do you remember all the times he did????? THEY GOT STUFFED.

and what the hell makes you think any of the new coaches will do any better..... I dont think had any of these new coaches been coaching A&M this season the WR's, and TE would have caught any more of those balls that were dropped....I dont think any of those turnovers and untimely penalties would have not happened....and i dont think having any one of these coaches would have kept Tanny's balls from being tipped at the line.

But there was nothing that couldnt be fixed.....and those fixes were still Fr and So...and a great!!! 2012 recruiting class.
