One big difference I've noticed between Sumlin and Sherman

Well, I've seen a ton of differences, really, but one that I don't think I've seen talked about. Position changes. It just seemed sherman moved so many guys around, half of which didn't make any sense. It seems like Sumlin and his staff have put a guy in a position and left him there. I'm sure there's been one or two, but shermans was every practice someone getting moved around.
And before anyone says it. I realize that we can only see the first 20 minutes of practice, so there might be some position changes we don't see, but for the most part the 11 on 11 we see has guys in the same spot day after day.

The one position change I'd actually like to see is Dusty to WR. Test him out for a few days and see what he can do in Sumlin's offense. Might be more valuable than as a backup corner. Especially if Otis turns it on. The 3 spots are already locked down with Raven/Everrett on the outside and Hurd on the inside.

I don't think there were that much more under sherman, he made a lot of head scratching position changes that just weren't there. I'm sure he'd do the same with this roster, too.

I dunno, you could argue that Caleb Russell at DE is a Sherman like move. Just trying to find where players fit best.

Maybe. But there's definitely not as many of them. With Russell, I just don't think he can fit into a 4-3 as well as a 3-4 at LB. really don't see him getting that much PT anyways.

Harris will probably start. Kid can actually play. It's a discipline and mental toughness thing with Harris.

I don't know, it just seemed like he moved a guy over to a new position for 3-4 days and then moved him right back quite often. Occasionally it worked out, but for the most part it just seemed like a waste to me. Scales moved back and forth. So did Barrera. Malcome Kennedy to safety comes to mind. Nealy all over the place, and having to go up and down in weight. About a dozen different guys to TE that never belonged there IMO. Again, some of it was done out of desperation, but some of it just seemed like a waste.

Maybe, but sherman did it more within three weeks. Some of it is definitely because sumlins roster is a little more stable though. Just thought it was interesting to point out, that's all.

You're definitely right about it being more stable. Should be interesting to see what happens after year 1.
