Our Latest on A&M and the SEC

  • I know that it seems like most at Kentucky have been hoping this happens, welcome to the SEC (I think) lol. . .

I would love to have A&M in the SEC. Hopefully, we add A&M to the SEC West and Virginia Tech to the SEC East. 14 schools is where it should end.

As an initial reaction the A&M-W/va tech-E sounds about right. Has SEC had any contact with v-tech about a move? GigEm!

OK, initial reaction is over. What about fla.st. Has there been interest from both sides about a merge? Which would be more realistic va.tech or fla.st? Instead of
picking blind posible W-Div. merge possibilities, are there any such schools on the SEC back burner? & GigEm! again

  • A FBaum apology is in order. Welcome to the SEC and everyone's (except Bama fans) hatred of the Finebaum show.

    Phrozac

  • Finebaum already apologized very thoroughly to Aubrey on his show.

I'm not positive that Texas will go independent until they have to.

Been hearing that the powers that be (Dodds and Beebe) are going to try to patch this sinking ship with an invite to Houston to be our replacement with other offers to the Air Force and BYU....If they come in they will be bullied to submit to the lhn but nevertheless all that it would accomplish is them going down with all of the other suckers.

  • Texas Committee of Higher Education is meeting the 16th to discuss A&M

  • boys and girl (Tiny) Its a done deal. I just received this email from a reliable source close to the situation....

"I just got off the phone with someone on campus who I had been trying to talk to over the last few days because he's very well connected. Unlike a lot of things we had heard over the past few days which might have contradicted something else we heard or came from outside the university itself, his stuff comes from the highest levels and it's like God handing Moses the Ten Commandments.

    A&M's going to the SEC.

    This is what was said:

When the LHN was announced last fall, A&M officials took a long hard look at the economics of the deal and decided that they couldn't compete with Texas unless they did something different. They have been in discussions with SEC officials since that time. The person he talked to said that all future alignment discussions would be based on economics and that A&M was ahead of the curve in this regard.

On August 22, the A&M BOR will make it official. It doesn't matter what the NCAA decided today regarding the LHN or if the Big 12 has any further meetings or whatever penalties are assessed by the Big 12 for A&M leaving the conference.

There's nothing that can be done at this point to stop this. The BOR has determined that A&M's future lies in the SEC and away from Texas and will ratify this officially.

He was told that although Rick Perry will be in Birmingham and South Carolina this weekend, he has nothing to do with it. He was also told that he didn't have anything to do with the events of last summer. The timing of Perry's trip to the south has to do with his announcement that he is running for president which will be made Saturday on the same day that the Iowa straw polls are being done.

I apologize for not having much prior to this but this is the conversation that I waiting to have because there has been no better source on A&M over the years and because this comes directly from the highest levels. Prior to that, I wanted to be cautious but there's no need to be cautious at this point.

    It's over."

  • The talk in BigTen country is that Texas and ND will be joining the BigTen. They have been in discussions knowing it would probably come to this. The other option is for them to try and form a new conference. Some were reporting that the BigTen had a meeting among school presidents considering sending an invitation to TAMU but that no offer was sent because they felt TAMU would decline it anyway for the SEC.

It looks like the super conferences are beginning to take shape.

  • So, are they taking tech and baylor with them?

    1968fan

  • My guess is that the SEC eventually goes to a 16-team league. Add A&M, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, and either FSU or Maryland. The era of the "super conferences" may be rapidly approaching.

  • Been enjoying following this story. Made my first ever trip to Kyle Field last year and despite the outcome of the game had an absolute blast. One of the most impressive home fields I've ever seen. I think Kyle Field would be a dangerous place to play if you're an SEC team.

My question for you guys is do Aggie fans believe Sherman is the guy you want coaching if you make the move to SEC. Seems like things are headed on the right track, I just didn't know how the 12th Man was feeling about that.

Sherman is the right leader if we can get one or two hot shot recruiters... Keep Timmy 12 inch as our DC and we could have something special.

good luck in the BIG 10.

  • Welcome the the SEC Aggies. I can't wait to make the trip to College Station and know you will love the trip to Tuscaloosa cheers

  • Welcome Aggies! You bring a rich tradition to the SEC and can't wait until the annual BAMA aTm game is bigger than the BAMA VS boogs game! As a DFW BAMA fan, can't wait to come south every other year to hear you guys yell! They say it is a great exp at Kyle field and I for one can't wait for the "Bryant Bowl"
