You have no favorite boards.
from the Blazers for Johnny Flynn, Hasheem Thabeet, and a 2nd round pick.
Backup 5 for nothing basically. Camby retires after this year more than likely.
I think it was smart.
Rockets are in purgatory
They need to blow it up and tank for one season but Morey refuses to do so and keeps them on the playoff/lotto bubble
LOOK OUT WORLD!
yeah, no kidding.. McHale and Morey keep on winning just enough games with crappy to medocre players so they can never get to a top-3 or 4 seed, nor tank and increase their chances at a top lotto pick... purgatory is right.
He keeps acting like he's trying to clear cap space to land a big name but nothing ever happens.
Getting Fisher and Camby who both will retire after this year are evidence.
You guys are under estimating this trade. Camby will be a good role player for the Rockets in the playoffs.

Still a lower seed/one and done
The worst place to be in the NBA
So to summarize, Rockets give up:
Johnny Flynn (PG) - 1st round bust
Hasheem Thabeet (C) - 1st round bust
Jordan Hill (PF) - 1st round bust
Marcus Camby (C) - journeyman center, will be a backup
Derek Fisher (PG) - old, veteran PG with tons of playoff experience
2012 1st round draft pick - hell yes
I'm ok with these trades b/c Hill, Thabeet and Flynn were all terrible.
But Morey has to start doing something with all this cap room and picks.
Damn good job by Morey.
Usually the Rockets (and the city of Houston in general) is on the other side of that trade.
You are either going to be a leader or not. to be a leader, you throw your shoulders back, tits to the sky, head up, cock out.
The Derek Fisher trade is worth 2 fold.
1.)Rockets finally get a legit PG with late season at playoff experience.
2.)Weaken's the Lakers ALOT! Kobe just lost his BFF whom he never has experienced deep playoff success without.
Derek Fisher is a legit PG? wat
Kyle Lowry is your legit PG
Plus the Lakers got Ramon Sessions who is better and probably cheaper than Fish
Regular season stats don't mean jack in the playoffs. Its a different season and playoff experience definitely makes him elite. I characterize elite by having multiple rings not by regular season PPG and assist totals. As a big Spurs fan .04 will always haunt me, I respect Fisher he is lethal in clutch situations.
Lowry doesn't have deep playoff experience and I guarantee if the Rockets get out of the 1st round, which i doubt, Derek Fisher will one of the biggest reasons why.
Rockets finally get a legit PG
Rockets finally get a legit PG
I like Kyle Lowry.
i also liked Kenny Smith, Sam Cassell, Steve Francis, Aaron Brooks.... the Rockets have had "legit" PGs over the years. I even like Goran Dragic as a back-up PG right now. Derek Fisher obviously has playoff exp, but Derek Fisher to me has really only had that one playoff shot against the spurs where it seemed like he dribbled, jump stopped, pivoted, pump faked, and landed the game winner in a very long 1.2 seconds.
Kyle Lowry is a nice young player don't get me wrong but he isn't going to have the same poise Fisher will in the closing minutes of a playoff game.
Fisher has 5 rings as a starting PG. Outside of Cassell nobody you just mentioned has any and Cassell was just lucky to start his career with the Rockets in the 90's. Tony Parker and Derek Fisher aren't the sexiest PG's but they win games when it matters.
Rockets will not get past the 1st round and Fisher/Camby doesnt change a thing
Fisher has 5 rings because of Shaq and Kobe
Shaq only played on three of those teams chief.
I also said Kobe, chief
They woulda won the rings with or without Fisher
As long as Houston doesnt have an elite player they will not be going anywhere important
Morey is the Billy Beane of the NBA. Both insanely overrated for what they do
HAHAH riggggght. Do a quick google search and check out how the Fisherless Lakers did from 2005-2007 and get back to me. Obviously Kobe is such a force he can win a title without a solid PG like Fisher and with a "much greater" talent such as Caron Butler i.e. the equivalent to your Kyle Lowry.
The trade's ok. Gives Htn better play-off potential than before the trade. At least they did not dump Scola.
