I ran my first half marathon back in October and I'm looking to do another one and possibly a full. I like the minimalist idea, but there isn't a great minimalist road shoe yet.
I bought the original Adidas Climacool when they came out and thought they were great. I'm still young and pretty lightweight so I don't really worry to much about support/cushioning.
Does anyone have any good recommendations for lightweight (<9oz) running shoes? I'm looking at another pair of the Adizero right now, but i'm open to Nike, Asics, or some New Balance.
(Let the Nike vs Adidas debate ensue)
best shoes ive ever had.
I love my Nike Frees. I've had Adidas, underarmour before but these Nike kill them.
I don't do marathons but I do up 10K's. I run in the barefoot style with my Merrells and I love them. But its a different running style.
I like the Nike Frees myself.
I have also heard good things about the Brooks PureProject line.
"I like Bears and if you're going to be a bear, UMMMMM, BE A Grizzley"
I actually have the Nike LunarSwift 3's... they are great shoes that I wear for running daily. Best pair I've had in a long time.
It all depends man, it's a tough decision. People all have different kinds of running styles. My fiancé runs marathons she spends some cash and gets Newtons. She loves them. Good luck
Nike Free's are the best running shoe I've ever worn.
Get an Asic or a Brook
i've run in everything from Nike, Adidas, Brooks, Mizuno, Asics and have liked a lot of shoes over the years, but right now the New Balance 1190 is the best lightweight shoe I've run in.
I think it would also depend on your running style and pronation. Best bet may be to find a true running shoe store and get fitted.
I agree with ag94 if you've never been fitted before ita something you might think about. I run in neutral newtons and asic nerve 33 love them both. I've always had better luck in asic used to run in the nimbus line before going minimal.
Thanks for the help everyone. I think I'm going to try both the Adidas and Brooks shoes over the next few months and figure out which one I like best.
If I ever get up to doing a full marathon I might splurge and get a nice pair of Newtons.
