Slive vs Delaney

  • It's interesting that Slive is currently on the air with Finebaum talking about the 4-team playoff while Delaney had a sit down with a group of reporters today to do the same.

Delaney is pushing that he thinks the four qualifying teams should be among the top six rated (however they're rated) and that they would have to be conference champions (unless you're Notre Dame and you just get a pass, I guess). Slive, on the other hand, argues it should be as simple as possible and you just take the top four (however they're rated) whether they are conference champions or not.

Obviously Slive won the latest round in their ongoing battle when the Rose Bowl did not get any kind of an exemption for the playoff. Doubt Delaney is going to be real happy if he loses another round to Slive this summer.

  • Leave it to the commissioner from the land of union labor to insist on something convoluted partially rigged. The only thing more annoying is their ridiculous fetish with the Rose Bowl.

  • They want to avoid the SEC, using the "tradition" angle. I'd much rather play the Pac 12 for my shot at the NC too haha. What a bunch of boners.

Maybe posting's just not your game. I know, let's have a spelling contest.

Girth my man the Pac-8,10,12 and Big-10 have had BRO-ners for each other since nearly the dawn of college football. We should not find it surprising.

The real story is going to be when the second rate conferences i.e. Big 12, Big East, Mountain west start throwing fits that they aren't getting a shot of playing in the +1 format due to week scheduling and poor regional exposure. My guess is this is but a temporary precursor before we get to a full 16 team playoff.

I can already see ESiPN leading the poor me charge when the sips get "screwed" out of their entitled position in the playoff like they did in 2009; once going independent and beating the Colorado School of Blind 12 weeks in a row.
